I have a chrome cover on my gas door and wanna take it off...I’m guessing it’s held on with something like 3m tape. I don’t like it so I want if gone but I’m scared of what it’s going to look like under it or how to get the tape that’s more than likely going to stick to the door. How would I get the tape off the door when I get it off?

Is that a cover or an actual replacement?

Some including AMI make that style fuel doors. Many of these are not stick-ons. Gotta make sure that yours indeed is a stick-on type before trying to take the 'cover' off.

It looks like a cover to me...I searched it and there are some that look just like it out there that say it applies with 3M tape??

I can see the white door behind it and if I pull on it a little it seems to pull away slightly??

Heat gun or hair dryer and fishing line or a plastic trim tool. Then use your fingers to ball and pick off the majority of the adhesive. Finish off with goof off or similar adhesive/sticker remover. Should be like removing badges and this worked pretty well.

Well guys I finally got around to trying to take the cover off the gas door!! Just as I thought it was plastic and had about a hundred small pieces of 3M tape on it! I think it looks 10 times better!! Thanks for all the help and taking the time to comment, this is an awesome forum!209081C1-FD12-41CE-AC69-F748CF6436BD.jpg
