That's good to hear. So far everything is going as planned treatment wise. This radiation is the last major part to beat back the cancer cells. Radiologist and urologist are both highly optimistic that these treatments will do their job. After that it will just a case of monitoring things, blood works, and taking lots of pills.

Medical science in regards to prostate cancer has come a long ways. Treatments are quite expensive though. In my case..so far...so good.

Glad to hear you are responding well to treatment, Matt! Cancer of all kinds runs in my family. Glad you and your doctors were proactive. Prayers for your recovery and many more years with your family and friends.

You're still young but doesn't hurt. Makes the wifey happy I'm thinking too. The PSA test is simply another check with a blood work. No harm no foul!!

Very rare for your age. Like I said...can't hurt. Your primary care doc will tell you the same as far as you not having to worry about it. Can't hurt to bring up the subject with him.

Glad to hear things are going as well as they can be matt. :)

I just had my first physical in years. I'll be 29 next month, and since I'm planning a career change I need to get my ass in shape. Figured with the beating my body takes as a welder, and way too much fast food over the last few years I'd better get checked out before I started pushing the workouts too hard.

Doc didn't think a prostate exam was necessary but ordered a full battery of blood tests and chest xrays to check my lungs since welding fumes aren't exactly great for you.

Other than needing to lose weight and reduce stress in my life, I'm as healthy as you can get. Red and white blood cell counts are perfect, blood sugar is perfect and on it went. Flying colors across the board. I even have below average cholesterol which surprised the hell out of me considering my poor diet over the last 5 years.

It was a quick half day of appointments but totally worth it. I'll be making it an annual thing now, especially as there's a history of heart disease and diabetes in my family.

Good for you!! Most Doc's won't worry about potential prostate issues until you are 50+. Had a blood draw the other day specifically for checking white blood cell count with the radiation coming to an end. My last physical was pretty much normal except for the prostate thing. I am eating a lot more salads now because I've put on 26lbs since my surgery. (Beer had nothing to do with it.) I'll start working that off as soon as I recover from the radiation which should only take a couple weeks according to my radiologist.

Hey Matt, I can't believe I just now read this thread for the first time. I'm glad your kicking it's arse. You'll be in my thoughts and prayers from here on buddy. Keep up the good fight.

I have a co-worker that had to have his prostate removed when he was in his upper 40's. He's cancer free now, but wishes he had gone for physicals earlier. They caught his with the PSA test.

I'm 60 and get a physical once a year and have for a long time. I get blood work every 6 months because my arthritis meds are kinda strong and they monitor my kidney and liver functions. My dad had colon polyps. Because of that, I have to get a colonoscopy every 5 years.

Like everyone else, cancer scares the hell out of me. I've watched too many family members die from it. And whenever I hear of someone that is kicking or has kicked it's arse, I just think "YEAH!" and thank God.
