So my Michters small batch ran out and I wanted to replace it with another Michters Whiskey. I purchased the single barrel straight rye this time. It's still enjoyable but I did prefer the small batch bourbon whiskey more. The small batch has a more buttery & smooth taste to it. Both bottles around around $40 each.

Jesus! For that price it’d have to make Pappy taste like twice used mouth wash.

Right place, right time, Luck. Or know somebody who's a distributor.

I stumbled on a couple bottles two years ago and snagged them. Haven't found any since then.

How much $$$ were they? I've heard the face value isn't really that much but people try to flip them for outrageous amounts of money.

It was $230 for two bottles. $100 for the 15 year and 130 for the 20 year. Pretty much MSRP. Hard to find it for MSRP these days.

Haha. There would need to be a number of bottles available to do that after I replenish my own cabinet stock! I'm down to 2/3 of my last bottle of the 20. And the store I bought it from now does a lottery draw for single bottles when they are available.

Tonights tasting is a bottle gifted at Christmas. It is pretty good for under $30 everyday bourbon.D45E8405-559F-4478-B385-068FE0A64718.jpg
Pair it with a good cigar and it makes for a great night! Cigar selection tonight is My Father “La Opulencia”

I just picked up a bottle of Cragganmor 12 to try. As it turns out, it's a delicious little Speyside scotch.

For the price it's hard to beat Eagle Rare or Evan Williams Single Barrel.

I think the Evan Williams Single Barrel and the Elijah Craig are both solid bourbons.

I have a bottle. I used to have 2 but sold my second. Not a fan and i love all things Elijah Craig as you can tell from my photos of the many bottles of barrel proof i have. Do you like a heavy Oak finish? its not as heavy as the 22 year but I do not like a lot of wood. Some people do so its up to your pallet. That being said i would buy it, go to a local bar that has it and try it if you can. If you like it cool open it up and enjoy. If you don't you can sell it for more then you paid for. Its not a highly sought after bottle like the antique collection or pappy but you still will be able to make a bit of a profit on Craigs list.

Note: This is all in theory. selling alcohol on Craigs list is frowned upon by law enforcement.

Added a couple new bottles to my collection...the Jim Beam Distillers Masterpiece was a gift...the other 2 were purchased by me

The JB is ok, most certainly better than your run of the mill bulk bourbons, but I'm not sure it's worthy of the price tag

Looking forward to trying the Basil Dark Rye and Eagle Rare
