hey... you guys have at it. I've chatted with @smooosh about this at great length. I hope he/you make a killing with crypto. In terms of what i'm willing to lose of my savings and investments, it's a small, low single digit % of what they are and i really can't be bothered to f*** with crypto for that. Even if it increased by 1000%, as a portion of my savings, it would still be inconsequential to my retirement age. Some of you guys might be able to retire at 35, but i'm pretty sure there's some people out there who'll work till the day they die as a result of being over exposed in the next big thing, whatever that may be. For me... I've got my plan and i'm sticking to it.

I'm pretty sure that's a flawed strategy there.... If you could make money regardless of the movement, Imma gonna question why you're on tundras.com rather than bugatti.com from your laptop on your own private island.

Are you saying that the coins that have been lost have been fully recovered?

I keep reading attacks on knowledge in this thread. How exactly do you claim know what everyones knowledge level is by just reading? Have you met these individuals?

Here, read a book and grow up. I read this in one weekend. These are the mentors of a certain Mr Buffett

Many of these internet posters discussing bitcoin are de facto market makers. The penny stock world had lots of these folks recently too. There is a huge profit margin in this stuff.

These people take very thinly traded securities and run the prices up, creating an appeRance of value. But, the underlying volume is always so low that the price collapses at any meaningful liquidation. Usually the money behind a pump and dump is the owner or group of owners. They pay promoters with shares of interest to create the promotion group.

You’ll see lots of ads along these lines on google finance pages, along with spelling and grammar errors! Because many are internet driven from other countries. And Engrish not frist ranguage...

You know that is not what he meant by that saying.

As for the attacks on knowledge you can tell their knowledge level when someone tries to talk about something that they don’t know about. Read @tomsinamerica post. It is the perfect sceptics response. No calling it a scam or telling the people that he is super smart and everyone else is dumb.

Nobody created a tread and told anyone to buy. People asked questions and I got tagged in the tread because I know a bit about it. I don’t have a problem with bears. I have a problem with trolls talking about something that they know nothing about. I could care less if anyone here buys but I will help anyone that wants it so they can navigate the space easier when they are just starting out.

Occam's razor (also Ockham's razor; Latin: lex parsimoniae "law of parsimony") is a problem-solving principle attributed to William of Ockham (c. 1287–1347), who was an English Franciscan friar, scholastic philosopher, and theologian. His principle states that among competing hypotheses, the one with the fewest assumptions should be selected.

Why "I will help anyone that wants it..."?

    How white of you....

You haven't' actually posted any single fact that bitcoin has; a regulatory body, a public exchange, independently audited exchange numbers, a basis of value, an underlying profit or business motive...or about a million other things that national currencies, commodities markets, or stock exchanges have. What you got is Blue Sky...

Dude, if you're going to fleece people, you gonna need to step up your game.

Bitcoin, an exchange you can find in some Grandma's basement housing some anarchist high school dropout trying to make it rich by trolling general discussion forums at various websites near to your interests!

You just don't get it. Every one of your alien points IS EXACTLY WHY WE WANT IT. I don't want someone like you telling me what I can and can't do with it, and charging me to get there. The more it becomes what you think it should be, the less I want to be be involved.

Just so we are all clear here, except the alien,... Bitcoin (BTC) is a single coin. There are hundreds of different coins. While Bitcoin formal might not have a company behind it, many do - and they are doing some really awesome things with blockchain technology. That is where the value is.

And there is no question its making people money. With proper investing technique, there is no reason us Tundra owners, errr, I mean paid Bitcoin promoters, can't make some fun money.

As a tenured investor from Mars, even you should appreciate that. Isn't that what investing is for?

I also like how on Mars you believe that anyone from Earth would take the time to promote Bitcoin for personal gain, on a pickup truck forum.

Proper technique? Why would that be needed to deal with a "safe and stable currency"?

Or, are you telling me it is NOT a currency? Is it an investment? Go ahead and ask one of your supervisors if you need help, I'll wait....

Guys, I'm just gonna whip you and make you tired.... I've done this my entire adult life, I'm good at it, and I was born to do it. Your amateur hour has met its match. Perhaps you'll have better luck on the general discussion board of some cooking website? Though I'm sure you've got windows open for damn near any discussion board in the country and just respond every time your email chime makes a sound...

I personally believe Bitcoin (BTC) is a digital asset, and that it's value is overstated. I also believe that blockchain technology is awesome, and the companies using it, and subsequently creating "alt coins", are where it's at.

Bitcoin is too slow these days to pay for something, much less would you even want to. For the record, I bought a burger and fries using Bitcoin in 2014.

Other crypto will end up being the daily used currency, and long gone will be the days of paper money.

I was on this thread a week ago listening to this tulip bulb stuff, and in just one week this currency lost 50 percent of its value. There isn't even a 3rd world country that has a volatile currency like this.

If this is somehow an investment, please, by all means post up some pictures of a factory producing some sort of good or services that the world consumes.

Last time I saw this kind of imaginary investment it was Enron. 200 billion in annual sales they claimed, but nowhere could you find an Enron product. It was, because it didn't EXIST. Enron was trading energy contracts, and claiming the underlying value was corporate revenue. What a fraud.

buy a bitcoin in the morning, try to sell it an hour later. What's the spread? Do you even know what a dual auction is, or what spread means? Is there a buyer of last resort, an institution, a market maker to keep liquidity available? Gee, with a dollar, you can walk into any bank and deposit it for its face value of worth... Own 100 shares of Microsoft stock? At any given moment on a trading day, there is a liquid market for buying or selling that stock. The price is public, recorded, audited and backed by an entire network of global institutions. Bitcoin is backed by the the full faith and credit of Grandma's basement...

Bought 2 bitcoin @ $1600 back in July 2017 and 40 litecoin over the past year, mostly back last summer as well @ around $60 each and 10 ethereum @ $200 each as well. My crypto wallet is in pretty good shape. I also scalp trade alt coins/penny stocks and once I see 20% gains I'll transfer it back to bitcoin. It's working well for now and I don't play with "scared" money. I just don't see this stuff tanking completely. Take it for what its worth and be wise, you'll be fine. Main thing is don't use rent or mortgage money or truck payment money, and it's a lot of fun. The scary stuff will be when the regulations or bans kick in.

The argument from authority is worthless, particularly when the authority you claim is baseless, unproven, and therefor without merit.

This is the internet. I'm Santa Claus. See how that works? Now stop being such a dick or you're getting rocks for Christmas.

BTC has consistently proven the establishment market wrong. Every. Thing. They. Said. I'm not a "25 year financial vet" but I did earn my series 7 and 63 in only 7x the time in which you claim to have read that big, impressive book. I'm not a complete idiot. I've fared well with cryptocurrencies. Trading in crypto is no different than day trading penny stocks, which is 100% acceptable. You seem to have some chip on your shoulder. I'm not sure what that's all about, but when you act an ass people stop listening to what you say. Translation: If you're so experienced and educated, use your words to show us the light. Don't use them to insult people and then expect them to give two shits about what you think.

ETA: And the USD is a fiat currency. It's backed by nothing but good faith. In a round about way it's backed by oil, but only so long as the world agrees to trade oil in USD. Once that changes that currency will be just as volatile as any crypto.

I don't want to get on these forums and argue. Can we just have a civilized discussion without all the ad hominem?
