Anyone use one of those exercise ball chairs? With my back issues i'm going to try a stand up desk and ball chair and see if this helps.

I don't have an exercise ball chair, but I do have a herman miller office chair! Spendy as hell but worth it if you spent a fair amount of time sitting during the day!

Have never tried the ball chairs but have used the standup desks. It's OK in my opinion. Good change of pace, but didn't go high enough and my wrists were killing me by the end of the day.

Office jobs are a killer. I just have to get up and go walk around our operations floor for a bit when I'm starting to feel it.

Having said that, we have some of those big ball things and the people that use them seem to like them, for a little bit anyway. We also have a few of those standup desks. Again, the folks that use them seem to like them.

I got lucky and snagged one of those Herman Miller chairs that were mentioned above. Very comfortable and it helps to get thru the day but, I don't care what you sit in, if you're sitting all day you're going to get fatigued.

I've always wanted on of those Recaro Executive office chairs and should have gone ahead and bought one years ago :burnrubber:

I also have a varidesk stand up desk at work as well, but find myself in that chair more often than not.

    Some stuff
better keep tabs on that. trust me. two carpal tunnel surgeries (one for each hand) for me already. not fun.

here at the house, i have a humanscale chair. i like it way better than the herman miller. i've had a biomorph desk for years, ever since i started the studio full time many moons ago. been happy with it and it fits me well. i make a point to get up and move every hour and get my midday ride in. if i'm stuck in a conference room, i'm the guy standing against the back wall. i can't sit. i start to feel like a caged animal.

My job 5 years ago was 50/50, office/field. I am now more like 80/20, office/field. My back started bugging me early last year, I am not used to sitting for multiple hours per day. I tried a different chair, it would help while actually sitting, but then I would still notice pain (almost weakness) when biking or riding the motocross bike. Sitting makes your supporting muscles and core lazy, this puts a lot more strain on your vertebrae and discs. Extended sitting is bad for anyone who is relatively active in their off time, pretty obvious I know.

I went to a standing desk in July of 2017, best decision I ever made. Mess around with it and get the height right, spend money on a good ergonomic keyboard. I also got one of the standing desk mats, TerraMat, you can find them on Amazon. I noticed an improvement in my energy and mood within 2 weeks. I found that I'm more productive; it makes trips to the file cabinet, printer, other offices, shop, laydown yard...a lot easier because you're not up and down 200 times per day, you just stay standing and walking.

My mom went to a standing desk about 5 years ago and I thought it was a gimmick, hoax, all in your head. But after the dynamic of my job changed I knew exactly what she was talking about.

Hold the Line! If you are not holding the line, abandon your ship. Destruction is inevitable without more to hold the line!
I have the varidesk, however, I start running into issues with my feet getting sore, when I stand up too long. My office chair is not bad, or great, but my asset manager won't let me get a new one, since this one cost them around $1500. It would be amazing if they would buy this for me!

Checkout autonomous. A bit pricey but hassle free stuff. Also check out tech source on youtube (one word I think) it has content for cost efficient desks.
