The Rebel did clean up with most 4X4 mag reviews. The biggest difference IMO the Tundra doesn't have compared the big three has already been mentioned............a real rear LOCKER.....standard. That is a big pet peeve for me. Not into computer "LSD" at all. :puke:

Like the looks of the Trail Boss, wonder if there using the same suspension as the ZR2. Column shifter is old school, Chevy said it's what the customer want, I call BS on that. Touch tailgate is funny, lets see how lazy we can get. Very interested to know how long will it last before it goes back to the dealer for repair. Sorry dude cant drive my truck today, it's at the dealer my tailgate quit working.

I like the looks and that the diesel will be an inline. I have a hard time buying GM when we have approximately 65 Tahoe in service and a lot of them have had issues. My 14 has gone thru 5 sets of front rotors and only 1 set of rears, also pinion bearing and needed a new rear end housing when new gears would not fit. Rear end lasted 21000 miles before it capped out. It chewed two sets of front rotors in 19000 miles, then they rebuilt the calipers.

We had brake issues on 15 and 16 model years and have had electrical issues on 17 also had a 17 spit out all its coolant sitting parked over night.

I can see that, Chevy trucks have had column shifters for a long time its what there customer base is used to. I prefer a column shifter in my trucks as well, my Tundra is a column shifter and I love it.

I'm not big on the power tailgate feature to much of a gimmick and not really needed IMO.

That rear seat storage they have is kind of neat, it allows you to access quickly w/o folding the seat.

Looks like a trend with going to aluminum as well. All hinged parts are now aluminum (hood, doors, tailgate) on the Silverado.

One of my Jeep buddies is a ford fanatic. He has two F150 2.7L EcoBoost for his work trucks and his F350 is his tow rig (Home builder). Either one of his F150s is double the F350 in insurance cost due to the aluminum bodies.

Exactly Ron, if they (big three) could only master the long term reliability of a Toyota Tundra...

Yeah, I thought the same thing. Only difference I can see is since its only hinged parts, remove and replace, paint.

Next we’ll see composite beds like the Tacoma.

I never thought the tundra was the most aesthetically pleasing, but I knew I was gonna beat on my truck and wanted the most reliable so I went with Toyota. That new Silverado and the awfully similar looking f150s are dang sexy trucks in my opinion and there's nothing I can say bad about how they look.

No crystal ball here, but I don’t think Toyota will ever build a diesel Tundra. Both V8 power plants have been bullet proof and continue to be very reliable long term. I could easily see the cost of a Platinum Tundra with a diesel power plant pushing the 75k mark. Due in part to cost of emmissions, (long term cost of diesel ownership), costs of heavier frame and suspension components to mount a heavier power plant.
I could be wrong, but I think Toyota crunches numbers pretty hard before making any major power plant change. I would not count on Toyota gambling on diesel power plant anytime in the near future.

Also keep in mind Toyota never took millions in a government tax payer $$$$ bail out like GM and the UAW, no need. Then GM sold trucks are cars to taxpayers at a zero interest rate for the life of the loan..holy fleecing Batman. lol! Rant over lol!

The San Antonio Tundra plant the last time I checked is still non Union and employees are well paid. So wise financial moves and a focus on long term liability keep Toyota on top and not producing junk like the 2018 GM vid in post #74.
    Just an observation..FWIW.

I can't imagine any scenario that would allow just 1 cylinder to be active except going down hill or coasting. Can you imagine how that would be on hilly roads. Recipe for disaster IMO.

I followed up with the guy who owns broken ZR2, he said the dealer still has his truck. Think it's been over a month since he posted that video. Dealer still waiting on part from Chevy. I would be mad as hell, but he seems pretty chill about it. From what I've seen in his videos he bought it as a play truck. Paying over 40K for broken 2018 ZR2 is unacceptable.

I do agree with you guys the Trail Boss in red is very badass! Trail Boss won't outlast my pro.

I had a 2014 GMC nice truck but it had more recalls than oil changes. Nothing beats a Tundra’s reliability and they look sexy af
