Cheaper mufflers vs name brand mufflers

    Found this on YouTube as I'm still trying to figure out buying something like flowmaster, magna flow and etc, vs non brand like BAM, flow sound, etc. Sound will change, but may lose power going with non-brand. Does this matter, is it true? What are your thoughts for those who have experienced buying both? And how do we know you are gaining more power if you don't ever dyno-test? Does it feel like you have more power because it's what you think should happen, because of sound, have you actually tested? Not knocking any brands, just having open conversation and wanting people's experience and opinions.

    i've heard the guy at BAmufflers tested his mufflers literally everyday for months. Trying out different designs and configurations. Street testing. Dyno testing. Etc. I've even heard him say that he's tried out several different brands of mufflers and that flow thru design muffler systems on our trucks all make the same power on the dyno, 3-10hp and 10-20 tq, and that the only difference is how they affect drone and low end torque:)

    How important is the low end torque and why does it matter? I really like the budget plan and would use my existing tailpipe, but I also drive all day because I do Home Health physical Therapy and don't want a lot of noise. So I would assume the 6" with resonator would probably be what I need.
    Is there also an option to use all my pipes and use a muffler of yours?
    I appreciate your expertise

    I started out making just mufflers. When I finally gave up on buying exhaust systems for my first gen I played around with mufflers. I finally found one that I liked but it broke and fell off because it was so Healy made.

    So I remade it my way;) And posted up pics on the internet. Guys began asking me to make them one.

    Then they started posting pics of their installs. I was appalled by some of the exhaust shop craftsmanship.

    So I began making bolt on systems. With this came literally never ending R&D. For the last decade I’ve tested Tundra exhaust almost everyday:)

    The 6” system takes all of the guess work out of it. I’ve done all of that.

    But if you wanted just a muffler, I can still do that too:) You’ll just need a y pipe.

    Low end torque isn’t missed during a dyno test. It’s missed on the street when you’re cruising in 6th gear. With low end torque the torque converter stays locked up. Without it the torque converter unlocks and or the truck down shifts to a lower gear.

    Anytime the torque converter unlocks fuel economy suffers dramatically. Not only are you losing the direct connection from engine to rear axle. But the truck runs super rich to keep a safe tune. Turns into a snowball effect.
