Jesus christ it would have been to difficult for just the 2 torx screws to hold the tail light assembly in, I had to make a second trip to auto parts store for some pry tools. Only problem is I am just mucking up the painters tape all around my tail light and not popping it loose. Where is the sweet spot??

When I popped my lights out so I could VHT then I had the same problem. I just ended up putting about 5 layers of tape down, as well as taping the edge of the light and just pried as gently as I could in a spot that damage, should it occur, would be the least visible, until the seal popped. Didn’t end up cracking or scratching anything, so I called it a win.
    I can’t say that there’s a sweet spot. It’s all about finesse.

    God speed.

Lol! Thanks for the motivation but I have now conquered the demon that is a Tundra tail light. Think the frustrating part was trying to use the pry tools and be extra careful instead of just tugging on it.

um, you shouldn't have had to pry it all. once the torx screws are out, it should have basically fallen off the truck.

There is a clip at the top and bottom that also holds it in. Similar to the clips that are around the grill. If it was just the torx screws it would have been cake. Gotta push or pull at the right angle and at the right spot to release the clips but it almost feels like your going to break it before it will finally release. Maybe mine was just a little tight since it was her first time.
