Oh shit. Time to sell that old POS to me. I will write you a check today. :D

So since you just said FO to me in your head, HC and high CO are fuels not being burnt. Do you have a tune and or mods to your LS1? If I remember correctly, you have a pretty sweet TA.

I always run camping fluid back in the day to inspections. IS got my 1990 F150 straight six with no cats on it through.

    Exactly, fuel not being burnt.

So this is the route I would go:

Recently had the battery go dead?

First make sure all your fuel injectors are good. (Flow rates, etc)

Tune up or everything in working order (coils, wires, plugs all good?)

To be honest with you, I would look into an EFILive programmer and have a dyno tune done. I used HP Tuners before, but liked the EFI L way better. Get your air/fuel ratio to where it needs to be.

I used Rocky Mountain Competitive Research here in the Springs. They know their shit when it comes to LS motors. I would be more than willing to come up north, leave my IS350 with you for a couple days and have this tuned for you. I would say I can tow it down to them, but I no longer have a dovetail trailer.

There was no way in hell I could have passed an emissions test with my TA, but that is what you get with the cam that was used. Lots of overlap.

The car maintenance is always up to date. It passed 2 years ago and I'v since maybe added 1k miles. The plugs and wires have low miles but many years on them now. I think i replaced it all in 2006.

Are COLORADO emission inspections mandated depending on the county? We aren’t required, but I hear most everyone else is

There is a Tuner up in Brighton that I used. We were able to diagnose issues by him sitting in the passenger seat with his laptop.

Ah yes the famous Trent. That might be a good route to go.

That’s the way I understand it. We aren’t required here out east either, thought they only required emissions testing in the hippie counties along the Front Range.

I would. Hell, he used to drive down to the SW part of Colorado Springs to help me out, if that says anything.

We have smog tests here in Denver Metro but the requirements are absolutely nothing like Cali's. Cali has the strictest pass requirements in the states. If running super rich you are going to fail most smog tests anywhere.

So they took my car all day and didnt call. I finally called and they told me the mechanic opened the hood and said he couldn't work on it because its not the original motor and closed the hood. All day and they couldnt notify me of this:mad: The engine is stock, i bet they saw the Butler Performance sticker and got scared. They will never get my business again. So I went to the shop and the clerk told me they had miss communication. The mechanic didn't realize the LS1 changed in 2000 and he didn't recognize the coil setup and assumed it was a diff engine. He drove it and ran a diagnostic on it and said everything was fine and he couldn't think of anything to do to it. He suggested I just retest it. I took it up to the Emissions and boom it passed with no repair! Wow Colorado great system you have. The shop didn't charge me so overall now I am happy and it was a good day.
