Just your standard .223/5.56 build. Wasn't happy with the complete Anderson I bought a few months ago so I returned it for a full refund. Oddly enough most of the parts will be from Anderson; lower, upper, barrel, upk, lpk w/o fcg.

You should give Aero Precision a look they have their BCG on sale this weekend. They also have great upper and lower.

Actually I was waiting til next payday to get the Sharps XPB. It's price is similar to what Aero has but I think it's far superior in design. Will be posting pictures along the way.

+1 for Aero Precision uppers and lowers. Their M4E1 platform makes installing a barrel to proper torque while also aligning your gas tube incredibly easy.

That being said, Anderson makes good, basic AR parts too.

I used a Velocity flat trigger on my last build, very pleased with everything about it. You should check them out.

Got a great discount from Anderson. Plus their 24" barrel was within my price range. Will post pictures once I receive the package.

This is my first build. Did a lot of research, comparison, budgeting, and most importantly convincing the wife. Pretty sure everything you need for the 300blk is the same as any AR build except for the barrel.

Yes a 300 blackout uses the same bolt carrier group as the 223. The gas length can play a big role the 300 blackout as far a reliability goes they are a little more finicky on that.

If you decide to build an AR check out Aero Precision M4E1 upper and lower Gen 2 receiver they are a great receiver's. The hand guards bolt directly to the receiver also.

An adjustable gas block will fix most gas related issue. It'll cost a little bit more but you won't have to sit at the range trying to figure out whats wrong while everyone else is shooting away!

Do you reload? If not, make sure you REALLY want a 300blk rifle. I hear a lot of people use that round for pig hunting, and if thats what you are using it for, go for it. Its an expensive rifle to plink with since rounds are $0.50/ea. I'll just say, mine sits in the back of the safe.

I believe that the 300 BLK is best when you own a suppressor it's really a niche round.
If someone wants a good hog round I would use the 6.8 spc is a great round. I have a wild cat 6.8 that shoots super and a ton of fun.

I don't shoot enough to load. Mostly for plinking but with this build I'm trying to get some distance on the cheap. I have a 24" barrel coming in and I don't have anywhere over 300yds to shoot.

Bench or prone. I'm doing a 2-in-1 build with this one. I will have two separate uppers, 24" & 16" that will utilize the same lower......for now. Heavy? Yes!

schnikies.....24" barrel? I'm not sure the 300blk is a good long-er range round, like prostar said its popular for suppressor users.

Probably better off with a 6.5

I agree - 6.5creedmore or .308 for a long range build. Sadly if you have all these parts you're already too far into this build (without replacing some stuff) to use either of these calibers.

5.56/.223 will have a flatter trajectory with a normal carbine or rifle length barrel. .300blk achieves it's ballistic potential with a shorter barrel, which is why it's so popular with pistol builds, but suffers from more drastic bullet drop than the 5.56. If your goal is longer range I would move forward with a 5.56 build and use a Wylde barrel.

You mention you probably won't be shooting much further than 300 yards - @ 300 yards a 77g 5.56 round will drop about 12". 110g .300blk will have nearly double that amount of drop @ 300 yards.

It's a 24" 223 wylde. Not sure where the confusion with 300blk came into play. Yes, I went into this build knowing that longer distances would be better with a larger caliber such as 6.5 creed, 6.8 spc, etc, etc. This is a some-what new hobby for me so I'm still learning. As I stated this will be a dual purpose gun to cut down on costs. A 16" and 24" complete upper to swap back and fourth when the mood changes.
