Wasn't meant to be a negative comment, just stated my preference and the Ford caution statement which might save Berettafan some headaches.

    Ok,

It just seemed like you were trying to pop his happy ballon and his truck is not a ford but a TUNDRA and anything you put on a TUNDRA works well, it is what it is! ford is like a bird shit, as in bird shit, that little white speck you see on top of bird shit, well that shit too!! :poking::crapstorm: Though I did own a new Ranger years back and loved it! :bananadance:

No big deal, just trying to be helpful. Fact is that Ford running boards are Amp design, manufactured under their license. Same goes for most other car companies that offer power running boards. And not everything put on a Tundra works well, like the so-called premium stereo by JBL in my truck.

I know, I was just trying to say, most do work well and if you read through this forum, many have them and not one has complained so that speaks for itself!

I know they work well and my wife loves them and she wanted them on the Tundra, I showed her in the 2018 brochure that Toyota doesn't offer them so we settled on the brushed stainless steel version.
I don't think you would consider it a lie me omitting the fact that they are available through aftermarket (I will never tell her though).;)

    appreciate all input.

installed today during 'lunch'. took 3 hrs though I didn't do the LED lights yet. they could be a touch more solid but overall very impressed. the plug and play is pretty darned easy. think I could do it in 2hrs if I had to do it again. would prefer a better mount location for the brain and will be looking to see if I can wire a switch to turn them off.

truck looks like awesome sauce now! next up 275/70 tires. gonna be a bit though.

I ended up getting my 2018 tundra 5.7 SR5 with TSS, tinted windows, ball for tailgate for $37,000 after having several dealers fight it out. I think I got a great deal!

My '18 Limited 4x4 Tundra Crewmax with Sunroof, with the Limited Premium Package, with the USB Connectivity Package, had Step Bars and Flares, which Stickered at $51,436, I picked it up for over $7k less. TRD was a $0 charge on a Limited, I drove it, and didn't care for the ride quality, so didn't go with the Silver Sky Limited CM 4x4 TRD, and opted for the one I now own.

Just dropping in to say I'm pretty happy with the direction I took. The AMP steps make a huge difference in the look of the truck and work well. No issues so far in the frigid weather we've been having.

Looking forward to the next major redesign and Pro.

AMP steps with the PNP feature is a mod, I was looking at, along with adding the TT re-curve and and 4 channel amp

I would say that the Tundra performs like the F-150 with the 5.0L engine (even the specs are really close), a F-150 with a 3.5L EB is way quicker, especially off line because the higher bottom end torque they produce. Both F-150 engines get better gas mileage under similar driving conditions, on an average about 2-3 MPG better. One thing Toyota could improve is the torque curve so max torque comes in earlier, it was nice with the EB truck because they hardly ever downshift when going up a hill with the cruise set. Don't get me wrong, I really like my Tundra but there is always room for improvement and they probably get it right with the next iteration, whenever that is.

I have read somewhere here where a member claims to have beaten a EB truck.....no way, I had both so I know. With that said, the Tundra surprised me when I got on it once or twice and is fast enough for me, if I have the need to go faster or have some fun I take my Chevelle out.

haven't lived with the f150 but test drive of the v8 tells me it is a wonderful, smooth and lovely sounding motor.

the chebby 5.3 is also butter smooth. Toyota is lacking greatly in this regard.

I can't compare the Tundra to a Chevy truck because I have never driven one of the newer ones because I wouldn't even remotely consider buying one. Who in the world puts square wheel wells over a round tire?.........just plain ugly. The funny thing is that Chevy did get it right on the Tahoe and Suburban.

my wife says the same about the square wells. however I find Toyota did a poor job when it came to 3rd gen wheel/body fit. too much open space under there stock and flat faced wheels (axle width demands this) take a lot of options off the table.

The Tundra doesn't have near the space between the tires and fender lips as a Chevy/GMC has. One of the main reasons I bought a Tundra are the aesthetics and I know that is subjective; I also like the looks of the TRD wheels. To me they look perfect on my black truck, I would prefer a 20" version in the same style though. Tires are big enough, I am one of the few who does not like lift kits and huge tires.
