Just purchased Toyota harness # 3040P for Tekonsha P3 controller, when installed it would not power on. After checking the plug into the controller I found no 12V power in on the black wire, hooked to trailer have turn signals but no running lights. Can't find any blown fuses. Is this normal or am I missing something?

I had the same problem when I installed mine. It turned out to be a blown 30A fuse in the block under the hood. All the fuses inside the cab were fine.

Thanks for the reply, I checked under the hood replaced the #11 30A fuse although it appeared OK, found a blown fuse, labeled tow tail, unit still not powering on. I'm beginning to think unit may be bad, however last time I used it on my 06
    tundra it was working fine.

Odd. I have no idea then. Sorry I can't be of more help.

Did you ever manage to get this resolved? I'm in exactly the same boat. The factory harness has 12V power (both fuses are good) but the pin with the power is on the thin green line, not the thick black line (as it is in my 07 Tundra).
