I have a bug-out bag I take anytime my family and I go anywhere which contains batteries for electronics like phones, head lamps, high output flashlight, got some eye protection with clear and dark lenses, emergency beacon. I take some non perishable food, extra water, bullets and pistol, I always wear shoes I can run in and pants or shorts that doesn't interfere with running(away from trouble or chase a fool down). I have a multitool in my pant pocket, not a knife....do I sound crazy? that's everyday. I want to be ready for anything and take care of my family when something happens, it would be sad to have my family look up to me and I cant do shit but then again you can always try to be ready for everything doesn't mean it'll work.

Not crazy at all. It means you care about yourself and your family. I dont want to have to depend on anyone for anything.

Doesn't sound crazy . . . IT IS CRAZY!!! :goingcrazy:

Just kidding. I don't carry a bug out bag as these trucks don't have trunks like cars; don't want my shit stolen. I carry basics in the ESP storage like lighting, fire starters, ponchos, knives, first aid, emergency blankets, etc etc etc. Clothes would be good, but can't carry those in a bag due to not being able to hide it. Worst case scenario, I use my pistol and "steal" my way home if it got that bad.

Yea I try to be self sufficient

Dood, you roll clothes as tight as you can and stuff it in the bag so they'll fit but not too many, when it comes down to where we have to walk ill carry them all in my nicely prepared backpack. I have a hard tonneau cover so I can store essential items in there and lock it, a radio would be nice but cant decide which one to use when shit hits the face

Hand crank radio; you don't want to have to rely on batteries.

You better believe that if SHTF and only way to get home is to rob and steal, you bet I will. I'm talking some serious, end of the world, zombie apocalypse type of thing here. Ain't no joke. Steal a bike, a car, etc. I'm taking someone sammich . . .

PTSD is nothing to laugh at. Serious business. But what you are describing alone i don't think is related. I think this is more on the lines of continuing with what you were taught in the military. Always be prepared.

Doo it, then film it so we can watch it and not turn you in....yet

Yes, after 4 deployments I think I am normal still, haven't hurt or killed anyone in peacetime so I'm all good. Life is better not looking at people from bars and a bright orange jumpsuit.

You are are a nut case!

JK, I got all kinds of stuff I’m my rides, my wife’s ride, crap, I got stuff in the boat... it’s gotta get towed by the truck or 4 runner anyway and I’ve got doubles of stuff. Prepared is prepared! Funny, I’ve never broken down in a vehicle I had tools to fix. However, as soon as you clean it out and go for a ride you break down. Then say fuck, I just took that tool out.
    Anyone else???

ditto on most of what you said but especially this. i've learned a lot from a very select group of people over the years and this was hammered into me. especially when i travel. no slaps on airplanes and i've had enough close calls over the years to justify the reasoning.

We get so use to being prepared for any contingent, that it becomes second nature. Remember PACE ( Primary, Alternate, Contingent, Emergency). You may not be ready for everything that could happen, But just paying attention and preparing for the most likely is better than 95% of the Sheeple out there. And yes, I have a Bailout bag in the truck thats good for about four day to get home. Carried a Bailout bag last six deployments, Ammo, Food, Cigarettes, Water and a good chunk of local currency, and local map

I don't think it's crazy at all to be prepared for emergencies. Your tought that in the military. You become ingrained with it. I'm 71 and still stay prepared for things. I taught martial arts, defensive knife fighting and women self defence up till last June, when I retired from it and turned my school over to one of my lower ranking black belts. I built a small shooting range in my woods to teach my grand Childern the proper handling of firearms. I carry two legal knives with me every where I go. I keep first aid kits in my trucks and boats as well as matches in a water proof box. These are all thing I do to help protect not only my family but to help others do the same. Some would say why?????? Simple just read the news papers or watch the news. This world can be a crazy place. Why not be ready to protect yourself, your family or to help some one else. An yes I have fire arms in my house . I could get a concealed carry permit in my state but I haven't. I'm very proficient with fire arms, but don't want to have to use one except in my house. Where I would use it.

I think being prepared is a good thing. But, taking some of the enjoyment out of life from being overly paranoid is not.
If you have to do this routine daily then I would say you in fact are removing enjoyment from life. Perhaps it is PTSD brother. Have you talked to anyone or willing to?
