Not sure what section to post this so I hope it's ok to post here.

After my lift and 35's I've noticed when I'm going downhill especially on the hill going down to my apartment, I feel the front brakes fading. And what I mean by that is I feel a slight chatter on the pedal before it slowly loses pressure. A few pumps of the pedal and pressure comes back. I've read that upgrading to stainless lines is ideal when running bigger tires?

Has anybody had this experience and find a fix? I can take it to the dealer but they can never seem to replicate any issues that I have. And really, with my run in with them last week, I just don't feel like giving them any business right now. I can take it to another dealer but if this is something I can remedy myself, I'd be willing to try before going to the dealer. My work schedule makes it hard for me to catch them during business hours.

Today I placed the truck on jackstands, removed my wheels and inspected my brake lines for any damage, leaking etc. all looked nice and clean. Brake fluid was full. Pads and rotors look good. And I also bled the brakes.
On the way back to home, still experienced the same thing. This only happens downhill, actually this I've only experienced this on that same hill going to my apt. Pretty steep grade. And I've noticed it happens when I hit the bumpy part of the pavement.

Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks!

I also read somewhere, to go to a free area and drive about 40 mph then slam on the brakes to get the ABS system going. Supposedly that'll shake up the ABS system a bit in case something was seized?

If it only happens on that hill, and on that particular section of pavement.....

It does. Atleast that's the only place I can replicate it.

    Then, wouldn't logic dictate....that it's the hill/pavement?

My truck does something similar on steep hills. Almost feels like the ABS is kicking in. Not sure about the losing pressure part though. My Grand Cherokee used to do it too.

True, however not a good logic to go by considering my other vehicles don't exhibit the same behavior. Plus, I wouldnt want to use the logic of certain road conditions towards the importance of stopping.

Are your other vehicles set up exactly like your Tundra, including actually being Tundras? If not, then you'd be changing the variables, which we'd like to try to keep to a minimum. My Tundra probably (most likely) doesn't do what yours does on that same hill, but it's not enough like yours to be a fair comparison. What might be helpful, would be to try to find a hill as much like the one heading to your apartment, and see if you have a similar experience.

We'd be interested in your findings. Experiences like this can truly dampen the enjoyment of our vehicles.

I'll definitely document what I find. Otherwise, I enjoy every 1 of the 13 miles per gallon that I get. #noragrets

I had something similar but it was when slowing (ie..to stop light) and it would never fully lock.

Took it to dealer and they replaced the master cylinder and found the front brakes never to even touch. After the replacement I’m good as new

Was the dealer able to replicate the problem?

    ***Solved***

My issue was a simple fix. Front driver side ABS sensor was acting up. Kinda put the pieces of this puzzle together as my brake fade seems to be focused on the frint drivers side. Went to local pick n pull, pulled out another ABS sensor from a donor truck and BAM! Issue resolved. However, dissapointed by my local toyota dealer who decided to give me the run around when I brought in my truck for another issue which was related to this issue. But now, truck runs great! Thought id share my findings and maybe this will help someone along the way. Happy 2018 folks!
