Here's my situation. My truck currently has dual exhaust, both exit directly under the bumper, pointed directly to the rear. The truck has 2 small flowmasters on it right now, 1 on each tube.

The truck sounds really good and in cab noise is minimal, this is with just daily driving. That is until I connect either my toyhauler or my boat, then it's just plain loud and annoying. The toyhauler is worse, probably because of the weight, but also because the front of the trailer catches all of the sound and directs it back towards the truck.

I understand the truck is going to be louder under load, but I don't think my current exhaust configuration is helping much.

What I want is a system with a single side exit on the passenger side (much like stock configuration). But I still want a performance system with a mild rumble.

For those that tow, what exhaust do you have (other than stock)? Are you happy with it towing on 5-8 hour trips?

Sounds like a 10" dirty deeds system would suit your needs, i have a 8" system and while definitely louder while towing or under load especially in hilly or mountainous terrain it's not unbearable, If it's flatter where you live/travel a 8" system might be a option also.:notsure:

    Not nearly enough room here!
I've had Keith's 10" BA Catback for several years. We tow our boat to Canada 1000 miles a year for vacation. The 10" single-side with resonator is ideal if you're after a system that won't drone or rattle your teeth but will NEVER be mistaken for "stock". Keith's systems are built to order, not something "off the shelf" that just happens to fit. Call him and have him explain why some of the other systems aren't suited to our engines.

can your full race exhaust system sound quiet or close to stock but with the same hp and torque gains?

I like everything I've heard and I'm sure the 10" system is in my future. Having a quiet cab on road trips is important to me, but having a little more tone than stock is also important. This sounds like the best of both worlds.

Keith also makes a 12 inch standard system. I had it for about 5 months before exchanging it for the 8 inch system, which I sold on this forum recently. I kind of wish I never exchanged the 12 inch system. I wrote about the 12 inch system on another tundra forum - which I don't know if I'm allowed to say or not. I can provide the link (if permitted) or you can search for it over there or I'd be happy to answer any questions about it here.

Okay...let me re-phrase that...What are the differences in the sound between the 8" and 10" systems, and is there a power gain difference between the two systems?

I have a 8" system, as far as I know the 10" is quieter. As for power gain to be honest I'm not sure:notsure:, maybe Keith can chime in.

    Sorry for the delay guys.

The extra 2” does make a difference in sound;)

    But power is the same.

When towing your on the throttle a lot more. The extra 2” takes off some of the edge you hear out of the exhaust. But it’s still very aggressive when gunnin it.

I can’t speak to the 10, but can compare the 8 and 12.

The 12 has a deeper performance tone compared to stock, with a slight increase in interior volume. Under acceleration, it has a subtle growl, which levels off at around 3000 rpms +/-. It doesn’t build throughout the rpm band. It is noticeably louder on the outside compared to stock under heavy throttle. I would put it in between stock and the TRD exhaust on the inside. It is not stock quiet, but I never thought it was too loud. Always thought just right to too quiet - by aftermarket standards. It also turns off at 60 mph.

The 8 inch is a performance sounding system IMO. Whereas the 12 could sometimes be mistaken for stock, you will not mistake the 8 for stock. It isn’t obnoxious, but it’s much throatier sounding. The sound and tone builds throughout the entire rpm range, and it really doesn’t shut off until 65 mph. Also, I travel a lot of inclined highways at steady 50 to 65 mph. The 8 doesn’t drone, but it’s pretty deep sounding in that range until the 65 mph shut off.

I ended up selling the 8 and went back to stock, because it was a bit much for my daughters. Keith’s generous exchange policy and my curiosity got the best of me - going from 12 to 8. In hindsight, I wish I stuck with the 12. I like a quiet (not silent) truck, but still appreciate the sound of a v8. The 12 gave me both.

Sorry for rambling. Hope this helps.

I have had the 8 inch now for 2 weeks and could not be happier.....this exhaust sounds deep with nice growl I have had 2 others brands full cat back exhausts and should have gone with ba muffler from the beginning

Wish someone near me had a 10 or 12” system I could hear and ride in. I’m now convinced the trd system gives up low end torque or at least moves it higher in the rpm range. At 45 yrs old I the financial bsns I can’t be rumbling around like a teenager with his first truck either.

My suburban had the perfect blend of quiet but awesome v8 tone.
