I think it is going to be a really cold winter this year. I would like to go ice fishing but the holes would freeze over fast. EA10BC40-57FA-40A7-BD81-BAAC33DD5CB7.jpg

That is just downright ridiculous! I'm in NorCal and its been downright balmy here for the last month. Our high temps are in the low 60's and lows in the 40's. I'm hoping for a cool down but nothing like what you have. Stay warm, stay safe!

I was out on the ice on Saturday....7" thick here in PA. By next weekend, it will be at least a foot thick. Keeping the holes open keeps me moving...and warm! Our temps aren't quite as bad...highs in the low 20's, lows just below zero.

20180101_105123.jpg This my friends, is as warm as it's going to get in Green Bay today. -12 last night with a wind chill of -27. Guys have been driving on the ice for about a week now, about 12" thick on the bay and the perch are hitting hard. It's just so damn cold!

It is a Honeywell thermostat. I have them on all my heating zones. They are WiFi and can be controlled by your phone with a app. And no batteries to change out, they are 24V powered.

I am in Ogdensburg, New York. Up on the St. Lawrence River. Ottawa, Canada is about 40 minutes north of us. Starting to get a little sick of the cold, used to do alot of snowmobiling but we don’t get the snow like we used too.

Just reading that made my memeber shrivel up and nipples get like glass cutters. I don’t miss those temps.

Do you plug in your Tundra if left outside?

The Tundra stays in the heated garage. There sure would be some square tires if left out in this weather, lol

    Ha! Yeah I hated that.

People don’t believe me that we would have to plug in gas vehicles or they wouldn’t start, especially if they weren’t fuel injected (I had no fuel injected vehicles at the time).

It can be a lot more bearable with some Sun and no wind. Wind changes everything.

People that live up in Alaska want everyone in the lower 48 to think that too. Yep AK sucks...[IMG] upload_2018-1-1_12-33-24.jpg

I hear ya. Our temps aren't as bad here in PA, but this winter is starting off terribly. I hate winter. Oddly enough, we are building a home here, soon. We're 33, but when I retire in 20 years, I'm out January-April.

Fishing, hunting, good gun laws, fewer people....I don't see a drawback in the slightest.

It's not bad as far as Canadian provinces go. I'm in Grande Prairie in the north west corner so I've got acceptable fishing within a 1 - 2 hour drive. Better fishing just over the line in BC or way further south along the Alberta/BC border. I grew up on the west coast of BC so I'm a little bit of a fishing snob. LOL. Hunting sucks here. Driving around or sitting in a tree stand all day to shoot deer out of a farmer's field doesn't exactly blow my skirt up.

Yeah. I drove up to AK thru BC (NICE) , Yukon and over. Came back thru Yukon and down thru Alberta. Remember passing by G Prarie. Northern light were going nuts. It seemed like it took forever to get to Montana border. Edmonton and Calgary were pretty nice as far as larger cities go. Real nice. $15 freaking dollar a pack cigarettes in Watson Lake. Makes it easy to stop smoking up there....Liard River area was so great to see. West coast Canada up to AK is hard to beat.

I have a camp on Black Lake. I check the web cam everyday was shocked to see the temp in the upper corner of the pic. It was -27!!!!! I would love to come up and ice fish but I would be spending all day putting wood in the woodstove instead of fishing. Think I will wait for spring. Stay warm.
