Quick introduction. Been a Toyota owner since the mid 90’s. Currently driving a 2007 DC Limited with 73k miles. Which will be for sale soon to make room for a 2017 TRD Pro I’m picking up next week. My wife and I caught the roof top tent bug and purchased a Tepui which I mounted using Yakima crossbars on the ‘07. I’ll have a tonneau on the TRD Pro as well and am wondering if anyone has seen a bed rack that uses the stake pockets? I’d like to get the tent mounted a little higher than my current set up but have been unable to find something that works with a tonneau.

x2 as I was checking out KB Voodoo last night and saw the rack that works woth the bed cover. Seems it’s too low to operate a bi-fold but an MX4 or similar may work.

As far as ones that are produced, no I have not seen any that use the stack pockets to mount. But none the less, it can be done, I have seen someone on here make their own, using the stakes. I was in the same boat I wanted a bed rack and be able to still atleast keep my roll up cover on it so i ended up making my own rack.

Thanks for the links to the Voodoo options. The crossbars are similar to what I already have. But the Bed Rack may be what I'm looking for. Two questions: Do you have any pictures with the 18" high bed rack installed? It appears like the 10" option in all the pictures. I'm curious how that looks in relation to the cab roof. Also, is there any option to mount the Voodoo aluminum cargo basket with sliders to the bottom of the rack? Allowing operation with a tonneau cover? The pictures look like the sliders are bottom mount only. It'd be nice to have that slide out accessibility under the rooftop tent. While keeping other stuff dry below the tonneau cover.

    Thanks!

Here is the 18" rack on an F150. Nobody ever sends us pics of the 18" rack....

At the moment there is no way to mount the basket to the underside of the rack.

Thanks for the picture. Sorry for another question though. Is the spread of the two top bars that run front to back adjustable? Or is that a fixed measurement between them? I'm trying to figure out if it make sense to mount my RTT to the main cross bars or those top bars. Also, is it possible to mount any Yakima mounts to the crossbars? I have kayak saddles and am wondering if those could be mounted to the Voodoo rack.

The spread of the top bars is adjustable.

Ideally, the tent should rest on the main crossbars.

Yakima stuff will mount to the rack.

I'm getting close to ordering a bed rack for my tundra. I have the Retrax tonneau cover and need to figure out how far forward I can get one of your brackets. I'm leaning towards the 18" tall version but wish someone had a picture on a Tundra. And do the tonneau brackets raise the measurement to something taller than 18"?

The tonneau brackets raise it approximately 2.5".

Is there a way to make a bracket like this? I certainly don't need 2.5" to clear the Retrax. And I don't want the rack to be 20.5" high. I just need minimal clearance for the thin metal rail of the Retrax tonneau.

The tonneau brackets adjust from 2.5" to 1.75".

This is what our bracket assembly looks like:

I understand how the bracket works. I'd just like the overall height to be 18". Wish there was a 1 piece bracket that allowed a 1/2" clearance for the tonneau. You can see how low profile the Retrax is in the picture.

It's good for you. Not so much for me. I'll definitely be spending more to have these fabricated elsewhere.

we already have brackets that will work perfectly fine with your cover. We have tons of them in the field right now with Retrax covers.

Agreed. But my issue is with the finished height of the rack. In order for my kayaks to clear the cab of the truck, I need the 18" high bed rack. I also use a roof top tent in the summer. The rooftop tent on the 18" bed rack just fits in the garage. With 1.75"-2.5" tonneau brackets, the rooftop tent won't fit in the garage.

Would this need to mount to the deckrail tracks? (I have the pe ultragroove and a drop bracket kit for the deckrails so I can still use them.)
