(The pic) My 2001, 233K 2WD Sequoia on this week's trek to Munising to trailer my son's car back to Wisconsin...13+ hours through a snowstorm...

My question is on the fuel gauge...it's pretty inconsistent...may read idiot-light-empty after I just topped it off...may be accurate...the DTE figure doesn't seem to track the fuel gauge (It will accurately reflect a full tank range even when the gauge is erroneously showing empty.), but it is pretty imprecise of course...

Does anyone know if this is common? An easy fix? Love this vehicle, but want to be practical too...it's 17 years old...

    Thanks!

Yes, I seem to have a similar issue with my field gauge as well. Any time it hits half or lower when I start up and turn the car on for the first time. It'll show that there's absolutely no gas. I ended up relying on my trip meter to tell if I've got enough gas to get somewhere. Or not. Pretty sure. It's sending unit itself, but I'm not sure. If anyone else has got any kind of info on this, I'd gladly take it.

I’ve had to also rely on my trip meter like NateB04. Don’t know how hard it is to replace the fuel level sensor…

So just an update on my issue when I run the gas tank from Full down to around half a tank usually just at or slightly under and then cut the truck off the next time I go back to start it my gauge doesn't read where it was at usually reads about a quarter left to go or under. This pretty much confirms my suspicion that the sending unit itself has got bad spot in it as far as replacing it it requires dropping the tank something I'm not exactly fond of doing without a lift
