I’ve got something similar....slight buzzing under acceleration....foot off the gas it’s gone....touch the pedal and it’s back...more prevalent when it’s cold. Seems to be coming from somewhere on the lower passenger side....thought it might be something in the door but it’s still there after all the sound deadening with the new speakers. Toyota is going to look at on Friday.....I’ll prompt them with the possible ECM on the firewall info!

Mine did it this morning. Rattle started just turning on the ignition. Didn't even put it in gear yet. Please keep us informed on what the dealer finds!

So I was just at a Toyota dealer....spoke with my friend who’s a service writer there...seems they have had a few 18s with lower dash area rattles....seems the culprit is an ECM module on the firewall...possibly something in the connection as a few customers have said after unplugging and plugging it back in the rattle is gone....sounds like possibly something loose or rubbing inside. I’m having mine looked at Friday afternoon

My 17 has a small creak and its coming from the trim piece that covers the rear view mirror wiring. I have to adjust it every so often to make it stop.

Ha! This was it! I pulled the upper plastic piece off and plastic creak is gone! I’m going to put some felt on it and reinstall. Thanks!

    @Stig, give this a shot.

I have this exact same sound on my 2018. Hoping to get under there this weekend and take look at the ECM. Please report your dealer's findings back to us.

Yep - my 11 (RIP Big Black) and my 17 both had and have occasional squeak from the rearview mirror. Gently adjusting from time to time fixes it.

Man, so happy to have fixed that plastic on plastic creak. Check that upper mirror cover if you’re getting a center of dash creak.

Thanks for the tip buy that is not where it's coming from on my truck. It's definitely behind the glove box. I'm gonna check the ecm this weekend.

    10-4 Stig.

Now I can hear the leaves rattling around in my blower motor. What’s the best way to get to the motor to pull out the leaves?

Try folding a napkin and wedge it between the dash and window, worked on my 2017 SR5. My wife's 2013 ford edge had the same issue, the noise always goes away in warmer weather.

Window and dash, terrible design concept.

Yeah...I can see witness marks where the speaker cover contacts the a-pillar.

Less than stellar fit n finish from Toyota IMHO. The whole dash board is terrible design. The center bounces around on dirt road from lack of support.

2016 1794 with 37,000 Miles. In the cool weather, my dash also has the annoying plastic on plastic creak/squeak that I cannot find.

We need to Kill the creak/squeak!!!

So the tech can hear the rattle but cannot figure out where it is coming from, this was the 3rd 180 mile round trip with no resolution....now they are going to schedule a Toyota engineer to come look at it...WTF!

My 14 has been quiet untill the cold spell but now has a slight vibration rattle and took me a while to hunt it down. It is in the overhead lighted compartment. Next time yall are in your truck tey ths for me and report back plz. Even with truck off, lightly tap different spots of the overhead compartment and tell me if it has the same hollow vibration rattle sound. Mine will only do it at certain rpms and is rare but still bothers me.

After taking my wife to the mall it sounds like the noise is coming from the passenger side pillar or dash or sun visor area but I could not pinpoint it

Spent several hours hunting this down today. I had my wife drive me around when it was cold this morning, while I was upside down with my head up under the passenger footwell. The noise was most certainly coming from the ECM, if I put my hands on it while she was accelerating, it would deaden the noise. I pulled the ECM out (4ea 10mm) bolts from inside the engine bay. Then I wrapped the opening in the firewall with sound deadening material, and wrapped the ECM with sound deadener too. It appears that the rattle/hum is from the metal of the EMC resonating against the opening in the firewall. The firewall opening should have been made a bit larger so that there was metal on metal, causing the buzz. Hope this sheds some light to those with similar issues. Its quite sad that this is the fix for a car that is not even 2 months old, but quite frankly, I don't have to the time to make the trips to the dealer and be without my truck for a few days. Found a rattle which annoyed me, jerry rigged a gas receipt and shoved it under the plastic housing by the rearview that covers the wire. Job done
