Trading up into a Tundra from Tacoma

i have a 2014 Tacoma double cab with the 4.0 V6. I need more interior room so the Crewmax is ideal. Am I going to see a huge increase in gas cost or not that bad coming from the Tacoma. Thanks for the feedback

In all honesty, as long as you keep stock tires and stuff, you'll probably get 17-18mpg. So I'm guessing you'll lose 2-3 from what you get with your Tacoma. Really not that bad. I have a "rock warrior" with bigger tires and I usually get 14-15, but have gotten as high as 17.

 

The mpg decrease is definitely not huge. Mpg sucks for all trucks. At least with Tundra you get extra room and power.

If you are worried about the mpg, keep your truck stock. Tundra stock configuration has been fine-tuned for efficiency. I was able to get 18-19 mpg on highway/rural roads easily. Then I lifted the truck and got heavy tires. The mpg has never been the same since.

 

I came from a 2005 AC Tacoma on 265/75 Duratracs to my DC 5.7 4x4 bone stock. Only have about 600 miles on it, but I can't eek out more than 15.5mpg on the same commute that my Tacoma would get 18-18.5mpg in all day long. So about 3mpg difference.

 

^I'm with him. Put 200 miles on my 2016 CM 5.7 4x4 and I havent gotten is past 15.5mpg. I am about to put my lift and 35's on it this weekend so that will get shot.
