Has anyone been able to order a Limited without the JBL stereo system? I'm looking to get a 2018 Limited CM this spring. I want the sunroof and would really like to have the convenience package as well, but after reading all the posts about the JBL system, I'd rather have the top-of-the-line Entune without JBL. That way I will be able to revamp everything else later and keep the stock stereo. It seems to only viable option for the JBL systems is the OEM Audio + JBL tune-up. It seems decent, but I consider myself an audiophile and I don't know if that will be good enough.

You can updated the jbl system also. It just sucks the pay extra for the premium but if you want the color keyed bumper and the traffic sensors and stuff like that you need to get the JBL

Unless you get a double cab. My double cab had all of that crap except the jbl system which at first I was disappointed about. But after reading on here I realized I got lucky. But op is getting a cm so I don't see a way around the jbl system.

Nice! I have one of those 10s in my Tacoma now, paired with some Hybrid Audio speakers and a Pioneer 4000NEX. I want to do a similar setup in the Tundra, but keep the factory radio (first time for me). I thought you couldn't get away with a processor in the JBL head unit? Or do you just have to spend more $$$ for a good one?

No you can. People on here have done it with cheaper ones. I just wanted a better but not the best one. You will need a processor though. Taco tunes has a package for a little over 2 grand for the jbl upgrade but I wanted better parts if I was doing it anyway.

Well that's good news. I'll be keeping an eye on your build to see how you make out. Want to make sure I'm grabbing full range from the speaker outputs, which I thought that (along with having to keep the factory amp) was the biggest hurdle with JBL. The head unit has so much built-in processing that it's difficult to flatten the curve.

I've looked at the ********* setup, not a fan of that one either. I'm more of an SQ guy, so a single 10 and some high quality separates up front are all I really need. I'm running the Hybrid Unity speakers in the front and Imagine in the back. JL 500/5 is running the fronts in active mode (100w to mid, 25w to tweeter) and 250w to the sub. I'm running the rears off the deck just enough to give the cab a little more presence. I really don't like the look of aftermarket radios in the Tundra dash, although that Android touchscreen is interesting...

Nice Setup. I've got the JL Stealth Box with those subs and am very impressed even with only 500w rms to them. With 900 they're gonna slam!

I got these because of that box. The shop I was at quoted me some focals that would work with the limited box space but when I went to buy them they where sold. Other 10’s needed more space so they gave me these. Doing it in a different box so it comes in cheaper then the $1100 stealth box.

I’m having mine installed so not going to have much of a build thread. I have installed systems but since I’m keeping factory head unit and not just having to run rcas out I figured it was best to have a pro do it. They also have the equipment to read and set the processor. The jl fix had an auto set button to flatten the signal bit the 360 allows you to eq it also with a computer after you flatten it which is why I got it. I’ll let the pros hook up their mics/computer and set it to the best settings.

I plan on doing a before/after video though with 4 different songs. Rap, rock, country and something else so you can hear the difference as good as my phone or go pro picks it up.

If you can get the truck you want without the JBL system, I would recommend that. If you have to get the JBL system, you will have to keep the factory amp and install a JL Fix or similar to flatten the signal out. I went with the Fix 86 with the wired remote. The integrated bluetooth module in the JBL system adds a slight static noise even with the Fix, so I turned the master volume knob down to 75-80% and the static can only be heard with my ear to the tweeter, volume up some, and no audio playing.

I personally think the stock JBL HU does put out enough power, after installing a new HU from Phoenix Android I was able to increase the output from the HU. It was like night and day difference, could not believe the sound from the stock speakers. It's a good enough sound system for me till the 4th gen gets here.

I bought a truck like the one you speak of. Found it out of state in PA. It has all the upgrades without JBL. I was really just looking for a limited without ffv. (I might be crazy)If you have time, just order one the way you want it. I'm looking to go the Taco Tunes route. Good luck with your search. Oh...by the way.....Silver trucks automatically have more horse power.:mudding:

Ha ha, most of my reasoning for picking up a silver truck is it tones down the chrome. I think with the sport/platinum grill and body-color surround and bulge, the front end will look great in any color. I may reach out to one of the high-volume dealers nearby (Boch) and see if they can order a limited with sunroof and convenience package (have to have the auto up/down windows) without the JBL.

I'll be keeping an eye/ear out for that video. I've been digging flat lately as I'd rather hear the album as it came out of the studio. I'm a musician as well, and I really enjoy the raw quality of how the album was produced instead of coloring it. Maybe a little extra bass and maybe a tweak down on the midrange
Frequencies that always seem to end up boosted in a car/truck.
