This just happened! Time for some different wheels and tires.

2010 Tundra, 4x4 Crewmax, Platinum Package with 106k miles. Has a few upgrades like the color matched shell, pre-wired for VHF/UHF (Previous Owner was a HAM enthusiast), home-made drawers. This truck was never off-road and has been babied minus a few dings/scratches. I'm very happy with the price I paid (below market value). Anyone want the Chrome steps? They are 100% coming off.

Huge thanks to @boardude for looking some options in AZ for me. It really helped knowing details on trucks that I couldn't just drive 15min and see. I somehow ended up finding something local but really really appreciate the help narrowing down the right truck and discussing the right choice. I owe you some beers next time we cross paths.

Here is the original picture he is responding to,

He is a custom fabricator based in California (califab is the name of the shop) he is doing a full custom build for himself, solid front axle from a ford (stock 4x4 come with independent front suspension) (
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=8T-D1jcdxNo only half decent video I can find putting the two side by side, even thought it appears to be a 10 year old explaining the difference, most of his points are correct. I don’t totally agree with his cons of ifs but whatever) (/tangent) he is replacing the rear axle, adding what is called a divorced transfer case, which means it it is after the transmission out put shaft. He is also doing a full tube bed that you see on a lot of crawlers (which is what his tundra will be) he says he will be running 40s I believe which is that same size as what @Spvrtan runs aka, MASSIVE TIRE!!! :woot: #gobigorgohome

As to converting a tundra, I hate to say it, but I’m with the internet. The tundras would be relatively “simpler” then some older trucks, but not worth it. And with you being in California, imho 4x4 isn’t used all that much any way.
As much fun as wheeling is, I can’t say I personally have the desire to do it in a tundra, and I definitely would not recommend someone learn in a tundra. Trails are too tight for them big boys, though props to anyone that does them in their tundras

And here is a photo dump of that dudes truck

You an excellent job of contrast with black and white photos. I'm sure there is a technical term for it, but you're black and white pics are awesome.
