me as well, I love the TRD offroad rims. I'm actually buying a set off craigslist this weekend. I will be powder coating them. Just haven't decided on a color.

did you paint your pro grill yourself or order it that way, if so where from?

 

I ordered the Pro Grille from @Roman from Toyota of Cool Springs. My truck is a Platinum so the bulge and surround were already color matched to Silver Sky. So I ordered a pro grille with white surround, removed the pro insert and swapped it for my Platinum insert.

 

This magnum headache rack works well with the brushed stainless steps on a silver sky.

 

I change my grille to the TRD Pro as well and ordered just stuck it into the silver surround. I broke a couple of tabs. But no biggie. Still sits perfectly

I have the SCS SR8’s in matte jet black and they look great. Flows very well with my Pro Grill, and black “Tundra” trunk insert and badges.

 

New member. Just bought a 2018 Silver Sky CM SR5 TRD Off-road. Looking for ideas on mods. Will start with TRD pro grille with silver sky trim and hood bulge. Will replace all interior lights with LEDs. I want to lift it and put on some bigger tires, keeping stock wheels for the short term. I don’t want to have to do any trimming in th wheel wells though. Some good looking trucks on here...

Rides great! Much better than stock! Gas mileage is about 12mpg, I have a 38gallon tank n fill up about every two weeks when I get to half a tank! Doesn’t hurt as much when you put in about $40!! LOL!!

 

What do you plan on doing with the safety sensor in the Toyota emblem?

 

Yeah I don’t suppose I can put a TRD Pro grille in with the sensor behind that Toyota emblem. Will have to wait and see if they come out with a better aftermarket grille that addresses that.

 

Picked up some TRD wheels for $200 last week. Much better than the stock steels it came with.

 

Looks good. I did the same for my 2018. The stock SR5 wheels look like crap.

 

Did you have to do anything besides remove the front mud flaps?

Forum virgin here! But, been a tundra fan/owner for a while. Owned a 2012 Black XSP DC for a few years, then sold it and bought a sedan (yawn), but then just recently bought a 2017 Silver Sky XSP CM. Bought it "stock" with 20" beadlock style gunmetal gray wheels and BFG KO 2s, bushwacker fender flares, and mesh grille with XSP badging.

Haven’t done any “serious” mods yet, only having purchased a bed mat, and am waiting for a TRD gear shifter to come from Santa...but my eyes have ogled a Lund bull bar with integrated 20” LED bar quite a few times, or possibly color matched grille surround/hood bulge with an ENVE tundra grille (not a fan of chrome), . A TRD CAI is not a bad idea either.

But the most annoying thing about the tundra, is that the tires to me seem to need more offset (not sure if I'm using that term right...but I mean the tires need to be flush with the fender flares or even extend beyond). I've looked into the spydertrax spacers, but I haven't pulled the trigger as I've read/heard that tire places/installers won't touch your truck if it has spacers. While I have no problem rotating my own tires, balancing them is a whole 'nother ballgame. Any truth to that nasty rumor?

Any thoughts/ideas on what "serious" mod I should do first?

Hi Mike @Had12many , beautiful looking Tundra you got there! I'd have to say I agree with you about the wheels having to much negative offset. Not only did I go with larger tires, more aggressive offsetted wheels ... I also installed 1" spacers up front and 1.25" spacers in the rear. Only then have I been satisfied with how she looks. Have I had issues with Toyota when I bring her in for service ... not as of yet. My recommendation for a not so serious mod would be to start dechroming and a bull bar with lighting would look great!

 

Thanks, Dave! I have to say your tundra looks awesome! I do like the wheels I have on mine, just want them with more offset. I think maybe I'll get some of those spydertrax!

I do want to dechrome mine as well, but I'm not sure where to start. I think what I might do is purchase a matte black SR5 Grille just for the surround and hood bulge. Then add my grille for now. That way if I like the matte black then awesome! Or if not then I could more easily get it color matched. The bumpers will have to wait for now...

Ha!! No but I was just up in Atlanta last week for work! I'm in FL. If you have the same truck then I know "she's a beaut Clark!!!".

 

Here is an updated picture after the installation of my new TRD Pro Shocks - she now has "leveled" look (sits perfectly level front, back, and side to side for the first time) and handles much smoother...

 

No mods yet unless you count a bed mat as a mod but here's the basically stock truck. Should be getting a Diamondback SE this week along with a new shift knob. Still haven't decided on how to level it but I'm leaning hard toward the 6112s at 1.9 up front. Also trying to decide whether to keep the chrome up front.

 

Nah! It does rub in reverse at full turn on the front n back of the front wheel well! But some heating n plastic bending would fix that! Just havnt done it cause I rarely have it cranked at full turn!
