Why do people blur out or cover license plates in photos? More people see your license plates driving around everyday than are on this forum

I understand if your posting a video of doing something illegal (ie riding a wheelie on a motorcycle or drag racing on city streets) but showing a pic of your truck with your new tonneau cover, I dont think it's necessary6b3870022c0646e02e50d83b383cb369_c436ff35b962410f92e766067bfd164b256510f4.jpg

Agreed however I do understand why people do. With the plate number someone could find your address. Yes anyone could do that but through social media/forums someone would know your address and when you are on vacation or at work. Prime to rob your house or steal your truck.

Access to someone's address based on plate information is pretty restricted. But I guess all who have the access to that kind of information are not necessarily good people.

For me, it's all about just how much of my personal information I want floating around on the open internet (name's not actually Jack Burton ). It's not too difficult to aggregate someone's info from multiple sites if you're so inclined. It's also why I'll never have anything to do with garbage like facebook and twatter and the like. This is as close to social networking as I'm willing to get.

Plus you might be surprised at just how ready the DMV is to sell your info. Did you ever wonder how crap outfits like JD Power and Motortrend (not to mention all the jagoffs peddling aftermarket warranties and such) know when you buy a new vehicle? Unless your state law specifically prohibits it, then they can buy it in bulk straight from the DMV.

I'd do it driving around too but I'm guessing the LEOs wouldn't like it.

Kinda what I'm thinking. If someone shows up causing trouble at my house, they'll meet one (maybe two) of my closest friends. ;):infantry:
