Just ordered this from Cabelas. With points this was almost Free! Any one have any experience with this make/model? (Anderson MFG AM-15 .223/5.56Nato ORC)
Reviews are mixed: Some hate it as it is very cheap. and others love it. Its not a DD or Colt but i think it will do for a brush gun, and the price was right!
I will put some Magpul furniture on it and call it good.

I've read good things about the coating they use on the lowers, but never known anyone who owned one.

I have an Anderson lower. It's quality is on par with any other manufacturer. I can't attest to the quality of the other parts but these days it's hard to get a bad AR. It may not have all the tacticool stuff but I think it will serve you well.

:thumbsup:Picked one up a few weeks ago also from Cabelas. Couldn't say no for the price. Haven't shot it yet. Still waiting for the rain and wind to clam down a bit.

I have done a number of builds using Anderson lowers and they are, as previously mentioned, on par with other quality milspec lowers. I have never fired a full Anderson rifle but I imagine it would be better than most Del-tons out there.

She’s coming along. Just waiting on some more parts and have to get an optic. Lots of time to add more. Gun builds are very similar to truck builds.

I've got a raptor. Doesn't dig into your hand as much as the cheap-o's do.

Go Vortex for your optic. not sure if opticsplanet still does the chat-n-barter, but i've gotten some good deals on red dots and scopes there.

That's what I was leaning towards. heard nothing but good things from Vortex. they had a deal with a red dot and 10 P-mags and I didn't pull the trigger.

I've seen a couple of those deals before.....always come with 30-rounders. I've learned to just ignore anything that comes with magazines because 99% sure they're not CA legal:annoyed:

Finally shot the Anderson a month ago. Jammed within the first 10 shots. Thought nothing of it. Bang, bang, does it again. Long story short it's not extracting. I know what's wrong with it and how to fix it but I shouldn't have to "fix" a brand new rifle. Took it back to Cabelas and they sent it to Anderson for repairs. Still waiting.......

    What ammo you feeding it?

Ammo had a lot to do with extracting issues

When it does eject a shell, where does that shell fall in relation to the ejection port? Wonder if your gas system is working properly. Could be a lot of things though.

I've never bought an Anderson rifle, hut I have built with Anderson parts. My inclination is to think there was a problem with assembly and probably not with the hardware.

I think it has a weak extractor spring. It's ejecting mostly at 3 oclock from what I can tell. The bcg does cycle enough back to pick up a new round and jam it into the one that's still in the chamber. I think the gas system is working like it should. I'm using PPU fmj 55grain.

3 o'clock means its not "overgassed" which is a good thing

Got a full refund. Apparently, there were 4-5 other Anderson AM15 there for repairs also. Brand-new! In-and-out about 15 minutes. I was not given a hard time about the refund. Seems like the managers were expecting this and had all the paperwork prepared. Maybe it was a bad part or bad assembly.

Yes, I know a few people with Anderson lowers. Just looking online and through forums they seem to be pretty popular, just not a complete rifle though.

Another Thumbs up for Anderson lowers. I've built several (using lowers and lpk's) and have zero complaints. My wife's maiden name is "Anderson", so for Xmas a couple of years ago, I built her an AR using one of their lowers. Although she is proficient with all of the guns in our safe, she is not enough of a gun-nut to know the various makers/manufacturers. I had her convinced that it was "custom made" and engraved, just for her.:devil:

I use both Magpul and Aero Precision BUIS.

Magpul is lighter by a hair, I feel the Aero Precision are a better quality product and they are aluminum. Both do their job well.

If you're looking I think Primary Arms has a deal on Magpul MBUS for $50 a pair. Only in OD and FDE though.
