I had one kind of like it (different brand) for IOS, but the transmitter died. They don't hold up well to continuous use. I replaced it with one of these. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B015GMRZH2/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1 It has an on/off switch. This was mainly for a previous vehicle that had an intermittent issue I was trying to track. I also used one of these so I could easily reach the switch. https://www.amazon.com/Veepeak-OBD-...335&sr=8-1-spons&keywords=obd+extension&psc=1 If the light came on while I was driving, I'd hand the phone to my wife, turn on the scanner, and she'd check the code. I haven't bothered installing it on the Tundra, so far no issues, but I'll set it up the same way if something starts triggering the light.

By the way, I used this software on the phone. It's the best I found after tinkering with several others. http://www.palmerperformance.com/products/dashcommand/

I've got one and for $20 (including purchasing Torque Pro) it's a good tool to have. I definitely don't use it on a daily basis but it's nice to have when a check engine light pops up. It's not tied to one vehicle so it's useful on multiple vehicles.
