So I have 2 dogs that are both large breeds and they LOVE to ride in the truck.

The larger one is also older and hasn't been able to jump up into the backseat in some time.

How can I get this old boy out for some fun and get him in the backseat of my double cab without physically lifting him up?

I would like to build something myself if possible to save some money but if there is a product out there that can help me at a reasonable price I would probably jump on it.

Thanks Jose, have seen some similar ramps but not sure how effective they would be loading dogs into the backseat of a truck rather than the back of a low sitting mini van like all of the pictures suggest.

Seems like it would be a bit of a steep slope using it straight up to the double cab backseat, also not sure that the legs of the ramp wouldn't interfere with the steps on my truck.

Hoping someone on here has some first hand experience with one of these products.

This one seems pretty legit just not sure where I would place the top hook that holds it up.

You can always get on all 4 and let them climb over your back LOL

My neighbor has a Great Dane and uses a board as a ramp for the dog to enter/exit his truck, similar to the other suggestions. Cheap solution that works.

What if you got a big sheet of particle board and cut it to size? If flex is a concern you could just double up with the remainder of the board. Chuck some carpet on there and call it a day.

Why not just lift him up? I do that with our 80 lb dog all the time.

My back isn’t what it used to be and its a little awkward trying to bear hug a couple 100+ lbers lol. Plus part of it is a safe way for them to get out as well. The older dog has bad hips and doesn’t like to jump.

I would think steps would work better than a ramp. Like 2 steps, one at 12in and one at 24in he should be able to handle that no problem.

The bad with the ramp is trying to secure it for when they go up it, the good with the ramp is you can slide it behind the front seats when not using it.

I hear ya. My old dude is 11. He used to be able to jump over a house. Now the couch is as high as he will go, and pretty soon he'll need a ramp to get up there.

That's true. Found a ramp from weathertech that actually looks decent. Steps sound like the better option though unless I can find some good reviews on this.

I used to use a ramp to get my 220lbs English Mastiff in the back of my expedition. Worked like a charm once she understood what it was for and hope to go up it. It was easier on her hips and on my truck.....also easier on me when I was pregnant.

I have a dog ramp, dogs never used it. Wondering if you were close.

I would look for something like the steps. That would be best.

Lol got almost same picture on our trial run the other day, obviously the steps were a success. I have seen a few decent looking ramps but the reviews ended up turning me off. Good luck!

I would love a fold-out step that lives INSIDE the cab. I think my dog could figure that out. I've seen a few fold-out steps that mount externally where a running board would go, and they are all super fancy and automatically extend out, but I do a lot of wheeling and something like that would pop off and be destroyed within 5 seconds off pavement.
