Hey Techstream Guru's out there! @PMG and anyone else out there.
I need to purchase the cable and software. I see a lot on eBay but not sure which one I need and which one works? Anyone can help out?

Also will it work on my Windows 10 Laptop?

I don't think the cable matters much. I didn't use the drivers in the CD either... The drivers were included in the techstream file (drop box link should be in that thread) attached is the cable I got and works great. Not sure about windows 10 personally, but I do remember other members on TT having no issues when using the same techstream file..

I don't remember what version of techstream I used. What I found was that I had to manually install the drivers for both the cable and techstream to make it work. I lifted this from the other forum.

I think you misunderstood my post. The drivers for the cable were already on my laptop BEFORE I installed the cable and software the very first time. The first time I deleted the drivers from my PC, the PC automatically went to the Microsoft servers and downloaded the most current drivers again which basically screwed me because the cable will not work with those newer drivers.

After I realized those drivers from Microsoft were not the same as the drivers that came with the software I knew I had to disconnect my laptop from the internet so Windows XP and/or WIN 7 could not automatically go to the Microsoft web site and download the newer drivers. Then I manually "selected" the drivers that came with the TechStream software and installed those drivers on both my Win XP and Win 7 pro laptops.

Short answer to your question is DO NOT reinstall Windows 7 on your computer that is overkill. Disconnect you PC from the internet, delete just the driver(s) that TechStream needs that are currently on your computer, then manually tell Windows 7 where to find the drivers that came with your TechStream software and load those drivers. You do not need to reload Windows 7 and you do not need the Windows 7 install disk.

ME: This is the best post here! After spending hours installing, uninstalling, changing versions I spent time reading every page here and found this. After downloading all the soft ware, disconnect from the internet and perform the installation. Once I did that I was up and running in about 15 minutes.

    Sure. I charge $100

I already have the software installed.. Issue is its asking for a key. that key is in that readme file. The drivers are already loaded.

Yeah I understand that. I am the furthest thing from a computer guy. What I know is that I deleted everything that I had previously installed, got the install files and disconnected the internet. Then I manually installed techstream, plugged the cable in and used whatever drivers were local on my (wife's) laptop, I guess from the cable. I'm not sure if it asked for a key, but if it did I just skipped it. Worked then, and still works now, even after updating to Windows 10. A lot of other things suck, but not the cable or techsteam.

So I did all the steps on that text file. I uninstalled everything I had first. Software runs now but when I try to connect to my vehicle it shows this. It installed the driver for the cable properly.

Sorry @BlueBottle, and wish I could help, but it would be the blind leading the blind. I thought it might be due to a diff version number, but it's not. I can upload the Techstream rar file came with the read me if you think it would help.
