Rear bumper ready for install.. Finally

After much delay rear bumper is ready for install. Just when? not sure yet. Originally installed the lights onto the bumper. Put a little silicone on the back sides and bolted them down. Due to the bumper not being totally flat it stuck out a bit on the bottom. Not bad (but my OCD kicked in) and I just had to take them back off. Remember the silicone part so I could not get them out. So as I tried to gently pry them out I left indentation marks around the one light in the paint I was so pissed.... Because it was out far enough that the light would not cover it So rather than get the whole bumper repainted.... I made gaskets I think it came out well. I was able to hide the marks and solve the uneven surface.

How did you go about cutting the bumper to begin with? I have the lights, just haven't gotten out and started cutting yet. Any tips?

I marked it and took an air grinder and cutting wheel. Taped it up with painters tape along the cut lines. You could pre-drill Each corner as well and then cut if you wanted to.

 

Cool. I'll have to check it out. I may also have access to a plasma cutter which might simplify things. Did you just wire it to your reverse lights? I want to do that but I also have a switch I want to wire it up to.

 

I would recommend cutting on the outside of the lines on your marks. To give you a little wiggle room to straighten it out. Also when you drill the holes for the bolts that go through I would drill them a little bigger as well to give yourself some play. When I initially did it it was tight and after I tightened it up it was crooked.

 

I just wired it to the reverse lights for now. I have a switch as well but held off right now. What if I get a lot of tailgaters in the near future it may be going in Mine are rough country lights. These with my Putco Blade LED light strip and stock reverse lights.... I love it. The tinted rear slider is no longer winning.....

Ha ha.... If I had more time I would take you up on that offer. Unfortunately lots of things going on at the moment and not particularly good things... (divorce) But like I always say will work for beer
