Gas here has been around 2.25 (+/- 0.05) for the past few years, I don't remember when I last seen 2.50. Anyway, even if it is 60.00 more a month it really doesn't make a difference to me. I spend more then that when I just have to get a single item at Walmart or Lowes and my wife decides to come along.
I am not trying to defend the Tundra's subpar fuel economy because I knew that before I bought it and it really doesn't matter much to me. In all reality the Tundra isn't as thirsty as some say, it depend a lot on your driving style.

I guess you could and the regular cruise would still work. Not sure if you will get an error message.

Toytec level and diff drop, Cooper STT Pro Tires, TRD Pro Grill, blacked out, debadged.
its 15 vs 11 in every 100,000 people so across the population of the US roughly 330 million that's 13,000 people that go home to their family after an accident. I'm not talking about self driving cars. I'm talking about the advanced braking in a collision that these systems provide.

If you look at the statistics (which I'm sure you won't) the drop off is not right at 1998, its closer to 2004 after we had 5 years of it being mandated and good chunk of the older cars were being taken off the road.

People fought seatbelts when they came out, and they saved a lot of lives.

People fought headrests when they came out and they saved lives.

people fought airbags when they came out and they saved lives.

people are fighting advanced crash prevention and it IS saving lives.

OK i'm looking at buying a '17 or '18 double cab SR. Is the FSS why can't find '18 front bumper or grill guard replacements for the Tundra? Has anyone put a replacement bumper/grill guard on an '18 and figured out how to either disable or engineer a solution to keep this feature working? All i see here yeah you might be able to disable or turn it off without throwing too many codes... has anyone done it?

I have to have at minimum a grill guard, prefer a full bumper replacement with grill guard. Am i better off with a '17?

I would buy a 2018 due to the improvements they made; besides TSS-P you also get LED headlights (SR5 and up) and the new instrument cluster which is really nice. As far as your grille option goes, the aftermarket companies will catch up and adapt their grilles so you can install the one sensor that is located behind the Toyota emblem.

I couldn't have said that any better. I totally agree with you but we all know that people resist change.

I bought a 2018 because it had all these extras. I need all these things because I am getting older and my reaction time is not as good as what it was when I was 20 . Because of the longevity of my other Toyotas this will be my last vehicle that I buy , next it'll probably be a wheelchair. Just as long as it can get me my wife and the grandkids where we want to go and safely I'm happy with it.

I agree with you, I am also older and don't have the reaction anymore I once had. TSS-P and mostly driving a little slower and more defensively should compensate for that.

Where did you read that the 2018 Tundra has stop & go cruise? As far as I know the only truck that has it is the 2018 F-150 and it is only available in the upper trim packages. On the other hand, you get adaptive cruise on every 2018 Tundra as standard equipment.

That probably won't happen until the next model makeover which I thought was 2020.

Again, you're trying to make the statistics work for you. I understand 11 per 100k. As a percentage, it is nothing though. 0.010% (11) vs 0.015% (15). That's hardly a drop off.

The drop from 26 to 15 due to air bags and seat belts is a little more convincing.

I don't remember people fighting air bags and seat belts. I do see people fighting crash prevention, they get annoyed by it and turn it off!

Now whos making numbers work for them. 11 vs 15 is a 26.67% drop.

How old are you? Im guessing less then mid 30's if you don't remember people fighting seat belts and for a lesser degree air bags.
