    They are awesome. I have two. My boy and I fight with them, and they are very durable. If you catch them at a convention, you can get some of their premade ones pretty cheap. I used some Mag Light clips to mount them on the wall.

    That shackle looks great. Did you buy them separately or all together? Do you remember where you bought it?

    @Borgs check this out!

    2"CB shackles, bushings and 1 shim, lockerdown console vault, rear folding seat back mod, snugtop shell with opening side windows, 46g fuel tank, SDHQ sliders and hidden winch, Decked Drawers, Alcan leaf springs and got rid of the interior chrome
    Definitely would do a number if rear ended, but I’ve busted my shins too many times through the years to leave it in!

    Sweet pictures. No, they’re not originals. Barely got the posters approved through my home decor supervisor. No way I would have gotten originals passed through the budgeting director. (My wife holds both positions.)

    It looks like you and your girl have a great bond with Star Wars. My oldest girl likes Star Wars, but thinks Harry Potter is better.

    Vehicles are designed to displace force when colliding. If you have a hitch, it is a direct transfer of force which causes more damage (and likely structural).

    Makes sense. It is not excessively enforced, but you can bet you'd get a ticket if someone rear ends your hitch ball.

    The main part is made by Curt Manufacturing. Got it off Amazon - much cheaper than in stores. The shackle is just a random shackle I found on Amazon as well. The Curt shackle is a little beefier, but it’s orange, so I’m having it powder coated red.

    Been running with a standard black Reese cover from Lowes, but this thread got me thinking. Decided to add some character and just ordered this one.

    Does presence of a ball hitch increase damage to both vehicles in a collision, or just the one without the hitch?

    After reading this, it looks like good protection from texting drivers behind would be to install a permanent ball hitch and paint it bright red! SMH that legislation always has exceptions built in. Arguable that paying for an equipment violation cite would cost far less than structural and cosmetic repairs to the back end of a truck after getting rear-ended. I'm considering that most rear-end collisions are caused by actions of the following driver... so if the leading vehicle has a ball hitch, the one causing the collision from behind would incur the most damage. Seems kinda fair....
