I teach Aviation Electronics to Sailors and Marines at NAS Pensacola, just pulled this up on my station in class and was able to show my students. They definitely appreciated being able to see this. Thank you!!!

    Everything. Literally.
This post is awesome. My pappy fought at Iwo Jima, among other places in the pacific theater. He’s the reason my old man served, as well as myself.
These guys were cut from a different cloth. I’m a a veteran, so I would never take anything away from anybody that’s served in an active combat zone, but our grandparents generation.. the WWII guys, they were something else.
There’s never been a badder bunch of dudes, and there never will be.
From The Ardennes to Iwo Jima, theses guys were bad-fuckin-ass.

I've recently been charged with handling family photos for my family and have been going through boxes upon boxes of photos that my grandmother (Mrs. Kodak) took. She always had a camera going. In those boxes were quite a few old photos of my grandfather and other people I don't even know and am trying to track down information. I've gotten pretty adept at photoshop and specifically photo touch ups. I did the first one you posted, hope you don't mind. 2 versions, 1 is the original coloring (with yellowing) second is a desaturated version which I think looks much better. Again, hope you don't mind, if i've overstepped just say so I will refrain.

Awesome pictures and post. My wife's grandfather was a tail gunner in WW2. His plane was shot down, and he and 1 other crew member were the only survivors. He lived to be 97 years old, was married for almost 70 years and raised 9 kids. I always say this was the last "great generation" when MEN were MEN.

Thank you so much for sharing. What an awesome tribute to your Grandfather! My Grandfather was in the Army in WWII, my Father was in the Marine Corp (recon) in Vietnam, I served in the Marines and my Son is currently serving in the Navy in San Diego aboard the Navy's newest class of ships, the LCS.

Much, much respect for all veterans and all currently serving this great Nation, but especially those of the "Greatest Generation "!

Again, thank you Sir for sharing this and God Bless!
