Hell yeah. Half those gouges would be on the bottom of my doors. It just makes going over big rocks pretty worry free. If I ever start over, sliders will be my very first upgrade.

The rear being about 3” higher than before the lift, running the bike up the ramp and onto the bed was getting a little sketchy. I’ll still load it on the bed if I’m going far, but for the local riding parks, got me a new hitch rack. Once I get the FRAC installed, it will come in handy to check on the bike while driving.

    Barney Riley Trail
    with @16tunterd and @GodlessPro.

This trail was exactly the opposite of what we were expecting. We thought we were going to plow right through it. Boy, were we wrong. The entire trail was very rocky, tight brush, steep inclines, and big boulders. It took us over 4 hours to travel just 11 miles to the end of the trail. I don’t remember ever getting above 15 mph. And after we got to the end, we had to climb back out of there the way we came in. We had to boogie on out as we were running out of daylight and actually didn’t make it out until the sun went down. A couple of times we were wondering if we were going to make it out alive. Lol. Overall, loved the difficulty... we had such a great time.

Beautiful sunrise on the way there

    We ignored the recommendation

Matt without sliders. This was the average incline on the descent. A few spots got much worse. A couple... downright scary.

Did incur a little damage. Pushed my bumper in over an inch.

The bumper is supposed to line up with the trim piece above it. :(

Took the front apart today to try to straighten the pushed in bumper corner.
    BCC5C166-A844-414F-97BC-536B3058969C.jpg

First found the three tabs holding the bumper corner to the center piece broke off. There’s no fixing that without buying a whole new entire center piece. So I just removed the tabs and it lays much more flush now. I think it should be fine without them.
    A9F3A814-C8F5-434F-84AF-14FA195DF7A6.jpg
    3EEB2B4C-4A1E-47FE-B531-2631155101CA.jpg

Also found the metal frame piece the bumpers are attached to is what’s bent and don’t think it’s repairable without a lot of work. So I just yanked on it as much as I could to bend it back as much as possible. Bent it back enough to get the trim piece above it to get back flush with the fender. And enough to get it to stop rubbing the tire at full lock.
    25A6C1F5-EE3B-4DB1-B3C3-1893D6F46B78.jpg

Good enough til I get a new offroad bumper. Oh, and I attached the front camera while I had the grille off and thought about installing the FRAC... but got lazy. Maybe next week.

Yeah the bumper was pushed in just enough to make it rub in reverse again. Didn’t realize til I got home and backed out of my driveway. Actually, I probably would have just left it as it was if it didn’t rub.

Very nice truck, I'm a long way from getting to your level, but I have a couple questions for you. I think you managed to mount your spare underneath, is there room under there for a narrow 35"? Or is it too tight? And how well does your tire fit?

Also, I too noticed that the SDHQ sliders look slightly short. I wonder if they would make me a custom set that went closer to the rear tire.

    Thanks,
    Scott

Thanks Scott. My 295/70's are about 34.5" and it's pressed up against that bracket that holds the spare tire in place. It's in there really tightly, not sure how the 35's will fit. If you remove that bracket and as long as you don't have the fat Coachbuilder shackles, I think you should be able to get a 35 in there. I'm actually planning to cut that bracket off soon, I don't like the impression it leaves on my spare tire.

Not sure about the sliders. The reason it's short is because the rear fender drops a little bit lower than the cab area. If it were longer, it would hit it, so they would probably have to completely change the design. I'm sure they could but I would imagine it being pretty expensive for them to make a one off. If anything, I would ask them if they could just weld on a piece on the end that tapers down a little bit to avoid hitting the body. Might not hold up the weight of the truck but will probably push loose rocks out the way.

Thanks Joon. Maybe I'll go a bit smaller tire. IDK I'm trying to go bigger tires, but I have to be stealthy about it (wife concerns), so I was going to use the stock wheels. I think your tire might be too wide for stock wheels, I'll have to check.

BTW - Nice family camping pics. Enjoy.

    BAMF sliders.

$100 rebate on MRDS bumpers starting on Monday. I spoke with N-Fab and they advised shopping the the best deal then sending them the "box top" when the bumper is received. I'm ordering one then.

I was thinking about returning the antenna, but since discovered Amazon Music. It’s free for Prime members and it’s awesome. Never even knew about it. No more radio for me.

Like @16tunterd said, can only be done on DoubleCabs. It really is a shame because it’s one of the most useful mods. It’s too bad everyone can’t do it.
