    So higher octane = better? Not true here. You can get ethanol free at some stations when you head out of DFW area but in 87 only. I hear the reason why is because they use ethanol to boost octane. I ran a carbed Mercury outboard with milled heads and 140 lbs compression. I had to run high octane. I really liked to run the ethanol free but had to add an octane booster when I did.

    Another Welcome from Texas. Most stations have either 87 or 89 as the lowest octane, run whatever they have. As has been mentioned before, stick with Top Tier gas http://www.toptiergas.com/ and you'll be fine.
