I think they used an automatic tranny out of a Tundra.

This is not the first Rock Warrior I've photographed, but it is the first one I've added to this thread!

Can anyone tell me if the TRD Rock Warrior package has been available since the debut of the 2nd gen in 2007? If that is the case, then I can tell you for a fact that this is a 2009 model at the newest. Why...?

Because it has the backup camera mounted in the tailgate handle assembly. A backup camera first became standard on all Tacomas with the SR5 trim and above for the 2009 model year. It became standard in ALL 2ND GENS, even the base models, in 2014 or 2015.

I'd assume this is the case for Tundras...?

    Anyway, here it is...

A beautiful red Rock Warrior parked in Doylestown Borough!

I know I have pictures of this somewhere but I don't know where. At a car show at Doylestown Central Park back in August or September 2013, this guy who owned a car stereo place was showing his black 2010 TRD Rock Warrior. The truck had gleaming 20-inch rims on it (which in my opinion defeats the purpose of buying a Rock Warrior), but appeared to be completely stock from the outside...

This guy was an authorized Sundown Audio dealer, and he installed a 3,500 watt sound system, with a high-tech Pioneer head unit he'd had for years, in his Tundra! 3,500 watts! He'd made custom door panel enclosures which probably held about 8 speakers each, and the subwoofer was so damn big he'd had to remove part of the backseat!

He actually had the truck running and had a song playing on the radio. He invited me to sit shotgun while he gave me a demonstration of the system's true power. He turned the A/C up (black truck sitting on a showfield in late summer...).

He initially demonstrated the system with Van Halen's Hot For Teacher, and then he invited me to plug my iPhone into the head unit's USB port. This was an older head unit (probably 3-5 years older than the Tundra), so the USB and AUX inputs were in the back, and he had run a cable around through the glovebox or something.

I plugged my iPhone in and selected what is still my favorite song to this day...

"Once Bitten Twice Shy" by Great White. He complimented my song choice and promptly cranked it. This was a serious system, installed by a professional. There was absolutely no distortion, even when the system was pushed to the limits. My ears rang for a few minutes after getting out of the truck though...

I saw this one parked in front of the old courthouse and thought it was a T100 from a distance. The old school block lettering on the tailgate threw me off a bit, but as I got closer, I realized it was in fact a Tundy!

I've only seen one Tundra that came from the factory without air-conditioning; One in my whole life! And it was on eBay. This was over a decade ago and I believe it was a 2003-2004 model. It was a basic regular cab long bed (Pretty sure the first gen regular cab was not available with a short bed); It was a 2WD model with the 3.4L V6 and manual transmission. I forget the color. It had a factory AM/FM CD player and I think it had a tilt wheel; It just didn't have A/C. It was also almost new and in excellent condition. I imagine they were having trouble selling it because it didn't have A/C.

It is also worth noting that I've seen plenty of first gen Tacomas with factory "A/C delete," but only one 2nd gen.

Does anybody own or have they previously owned an "A/C delete" Tundra? Or have they ever seen one?

Anymore? No; At least not in this country...

5-15 years ago? Yes! I've seen 2004-2007 Ford Super Duty trucks without A/C. Doylestown Borough has a 2002-2006ish GMC Sierra K2500HD 4x4 with the Duramax diesel V8 in its fleet, and that does not have A/C! A/C was not standard on the Tundy's little brother, the Tacoma, until 2011!

You won't find that kind of vehicle down here in San Antonio! Had some friends move to Texas from up north and they did not have a/c in their vehicle and about dies that first summer they were here.

My local Toyota dealer regularly services a 1988 Corolla with about 400K miles on it; We're talking just routine maintenance. It passes inspection with flying colors, and I believe the A/C even still blows cold!

I like Ford trucks and the Mustang, but other Ford cars can't hold a candle to Toyota in terms of quality these days!

I'm guessing your dad's Ford today has A/C?
