Well, being as I don’t yet own a Tundra ,but enjoy this site ,I thought I’d try to contribute at least something to it . #3&4 are most of my saws and my saw cave . #5is where I grind ,clean ,and spin up chains . # 1,2,& 6 are a chinese knock off of a Stihl MS 250 . $115 delivered straight from china . No labeling on anything ,and no instructions . I bought one for me as a truck saw . Bought another for my BIL as a Christmas gift . Can’t wait to see him try to figure this puzzle out .7F5F12E7-361D-474C-BB38-70F487A4AD52.jpg 7F5F12E7-361D-474C-BB38-70F487A4AD52.jpg 305B5322-79F6-4900-8DFB-6A9A29B619A7.jpg 99DBEDF2-2EC2-429F-958C-ED16F02347CF.jpg 334174FB-C734-4340-823A-F55F19223E96.jpg 78E1D7BC-0EE5-421B-A8F5-5EE4B7DE4E8D.jpg

This is one of the reason why this forum is so cool. The wealth of information here is unreal.

I do my best to live up to that image !
Poulans get knocked for being cheap ,and unreliable . But that came about when they were bought out by electrolux ( now Husqvarna). The older ones were tough a nails and US made . Same thing happened to McCulloch .
It’s about to happen to Jonsered . The pro saw line will become Red Max ,the J’reds will become the “ home owner “ line up .

Nope, hardly an expert . What kind of use do you expect to put the saw to ? What price do you want to pay ? And, what OPE dealerships are close to you? Without knowing that ,it’s hard to answer .
Buy, if you are looking for a reasonably priced saw with pro features ,and a great warranty ,the Echo CS590 is hard to beat . Magnesium crankcased ,not a clamshell engine ,60CCs ,5 year consumer warranty ,$399 . Well worth looking at .

This, I have used Stihl's and Huskies in wildland firefighting, and I purchased the Echo 20 " CS 590 Timberwolf for personal use 3 years ago. I have a couple of acres and LOTS of lodgepole pines which are dying faster than I can cut em down. Use the saw regularly to drop em, limb em and buck em. New air filter and plug on occasion and a sharp chain and it always starts and runs hard!

Huh. No Tundra but an obsession with powerful, potentially dangerous mechanical objects, and a clean, organized shop in which to tinker. I vote:

    +1, you can stay, Dexter.

Nope , no Tundra yet . Been biding my time , and researching . My Titan is 11 years old ,so I doubt it’ll depreciate much more . .About April ,May should see me in an ‘18 Limited CC .
In the mean time , I’m working on a 35 year old Husqvarna 181se for a neighbor . It has a cracked crankcase . The flywheel lost a cooling fin ,and grenaded.
Parts are hard to come by ,but, I’ve located everything the saw will need to run like new .So , all new seals ,bearings ,and wear items ,and the guy will get a decent running 80cc saw for under $200 in parts . Labor is N/C .

Wow, you'd be good guy to know (labour for free = labour of love)!

Glad you checked back in here. Good job with that saw, and good luck finding your perfect match truck!

Well , I should be picking up my Tundra about Wednesday . It’s a Limited CM in Concrete . Kinda excited ,but at the same time will miss the old Titan . She served pretty well for 11 years . D231CF5E-AA90-4209-934F-2D753853ABAF.jpg

Love saws, I've been thinking about attempting to build a ms660 clone. My ms250 is my truck saw also it's always back there with some bar and chain oil and fuel.

There are several threads in the chainsaw forum at opeforum.com about building Huztl 660s .
I think it’s righr at the top of the page . It’s called something like “riceburner 660s “ . Lots of info on what works andwhat needs to be replaced with oem stuff .

I just googled it the images were rice cookers lol. But I found the forum you were talking about looks like a lot of good info for building a saw. I might have to move that ms660 build up on my schedule lol.

I bet you’re excited @nixon. Congrats on the new truck!

Where do you get rebuild kits for the saws? I have a Husky 550 Pro saw that has a little lower compression. New jug and piston I assume.

Do a compression check . If it’s low, Pull the muffler ,and look for scoring on the piston . If you can , determine the cause of the low compression . Could be intake boot , bearing seals , tranfsfer cover seals , etc ... you can look up a guy named spike 60 on opeforum.com ,or arboristsite.com .
He’s a husqvarna dealer and has helped a lot of folks with parts and advice .
You might also check with mastermind over at ope . He’s a moderator there ,so he’ll be easy to contact .
He builds and repairs saws . Great guy to talk to . Just don’t ask him if he rents pigs !
