    hi folks,

new member here. I just picked up a 2009 CrewMax at a Gov auction (side story, it was previously owned by the FBI and I'm discovering some of the associated peculiarities as I go through it...).

The truck came without fog lights from the factory, however it IS prewired for them. I bought a ebay kit and have read many threads on various forums about the different ways to add fogs to a truck that didn't come with them.

The kit I purchased came with the fog lights, wiring harness, switch, relay, fuse, etc. HOWEVER, since my truck is already prewired, I have decided to use the existing factory wiring harness and install a switch in the dash, tapping into the wires below the steering wheel. Loosely, the procedure is shown in this youtube video:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OQiFLtb-mnU

However, it does not work. My switch lights up (green luminescence), but no 12v power at the lights. It appears that the switch is not triggering the relay. I believe that I have the same aftermarket kit, same approach, and same problem as described in this thread:

    http://www.tundratalk.net/forums/tundra-lighting-electrical/102637-wiring-foglight-switch.html

Essentially, it seems that the polarity of the switch provided in these kits is opposite of what is needed if one wants to use the OEM factory installed foglight wiring harness instead of running the harness that comes with the kit. However, apparently the correct style switch can be obtained as referred to in the forum threads (and as shown in the youtube video above). But these are all old threads and I can't find a current link to a product that can be obtained in exchange for money.

In short, I'm wondering if anyone knows what switch is needed to make this setup work - i.e., installing foglights using the prewired harness?

    Thanks!

Yes, I understand that. And that is certainly one option. Another option is to install a switch to left of steering column as shown; question is which switch to make that happen.

Hi Bob, where did you hook up that new switch? Or better yet, what wires did you connect it to?
