I was at a local store that customizes trucks the other day and they had some Heise LED rolls. They wanted $100 for a 5 meter roll! I found the same product other places for about half that. I also see products that look identical other places on eBay and the like for about $10.

Does anyone have any experience with any of these and any advice, tips, or recommendations? I would like to run the strip along the channel at the bottom of the cab to illuminate my steps and the ground below and come on with the interior and cargo lights. The shop quoted me $120 for two 3 meter rolls and $150 for installation. I have no experience with wiring or any of that, but that's just such a drastic price difference I am thinking about giving it a try myself.

Alot of people use the smd 5050 rolls off of Amazon. There are good reviews on them, even for outside the truck. Plus they're under $10 A roll. Can't beat that.

That is the one I am looking at. Looks the same as the one listed at $100 in the store... Thanks.

I ordered a roll the other day of rgb for mine. Got some ideas for it, plus you can make your own lengths.

Yea, I'm trying to wrap my head around the wiring. Can you hook that kind into your interior lights so they come on when you unlock the truck? And still have the ability to change the color with the remote also?

I think I see how it works now. I'd like to get a color-changing one and install it down both sides and both front footwells. Also, I'd like to have it inside my cap for lighting.

That'd be awesome. I want to do footwells, behind my grille, and maybe back light my light bars.

Ooh...behind the grille would be nice too. I don't know what is and isn't legal on the outside for while you are driving.

I've got normal white roll, the adhesive on the ones I have sucks so I'd look for some with the 3m tape if I was doing it again.

I used the white leds in my bed and tool box. For the footwells I hooked them up to my cigarette plug. Just soldered it from behind.

You can see the cheap double sided tape peeling off in the picture with my tool box.lid open.
I wired the exterior white leds to my cargo light wire it's a small brown wire in the wire harness in the driver's side rear sill.

Completely off topic, but dude I love your stickers. Especially the "Lack of Planning..." and "I'll be nicer..." ones. Very very very appropriate for my job. I need to find some like those for my toolbox and hard hat! :D

Thanks, a friend of mine gave them to me, they thought it fit me well. I was working on a leaking stand pipe kind of an emergency thing and one of the people that lived there was looking at my stickers while I was pulling out pipe wrenches. They gave me a scolding look lol.

LOL. Beauty, thanks! I wonder how long until my boss says something once he sees those stickers. I'm well known for thinking the management and engineers at my company are retards. :D

That's why I kept them under my tool box lid. I don't think it would help my customer service attitude displaying such phrases lol. I'll eventually fill that tool box lid with more of them that's where I found the link to them.
