I had a set of these on my old Superduty and loved them. I put them on a separate switch so I could use them to hook the a trailer at night. Definitely going to add these to mine soon.

Not a good spot for the lights if you off-road.

    Ouch!
Hey Brian, thanks for the update on these. I was going to get these and I forgot until now! Just checked and now they're $15.
    Can't beat that.

Is it possible to install two sets of lights? I'm thinking one set for rear and one set split between left and right sides.

They are still running just fine minus the bent bracket and scratches from the rock. Def cant beat $15.

If your talking about on the truck then yes all white wires with black lines are ground. Choose the largest wire to tie into to get a good ground.

Right thanks for the fast replies.
I think I'm going to use a bolt to ground it. A lot easier and a better ground.
    Thanks again
    Cheers

Think this would be ok with 24 watt leds instead of 18? Or should a relay be put in?

Didn't do the math on the 18W or 24W but I would think you would be ok. If they are dim then add the relay later.

So I bought the Rigid SR-Q reverse light kit. Not flush mount. I go to install to my back bumper and the whole thing is plastic. There doesn't seem to be a good location to to drill the holes for the light brackets. Any advice is greatly appreciated. 2016 CM.

Did you have any issues with clearance behind those lights? I bought the same ones and was planning on mounting them in that location but it looks like there's a sub bumper or something under there and I wasn't sure there was enough room to fit them in. Looks awesome!

I did this on Saturday except I pulled the taillight and spliced up there. I used some weatherproof splices. I was wondering if the floods would be better than the spots. I used the rear bolt and left the front one in. I am going to add a couple of washer between the mounting bracket for the light and the bumper so I can angle the light higher if I want to. Ass it sits right now the light housing is on top of the other bolt head.

    I need help!
I attached the same lights (signstek 18W Cree) on my rear bumpers.
On each light I connect to the frame the black wires (ground).
Then, I conected both reds together and then to one wire running to the front drivers side. At this end I use a "mini add a circuit".
I connected the circuit to the "Cargo LP" fuse under the instrument panel.
When I turn the truck, both lights are on, but I cannot turn it off with the cargo light bottom. It stays on no matter what.
    What am I doing wrong?

This is neat, but has anyone added a switch to the dash to have these on when the truck is not in reverse? I would like them on when I'm wiring up the trailer but not have the truck in reverse with no driver while I'm doing so. :)

I'm no stranger to modding my cars, but I haven't done a lot of modding on a Toyota. (I had no idea the grounds were white/black!)

I had originally wired my flush mount Rigid's to the tail lights, but then decided to run wires all the way to the back. Now the lights are only operated by a switch. During the daytime I do not need them to turn on when in reverse, so i have the switch for when I need them

I am going this route too, originally purchased the underhung lights, then decided I wanted the ones in the bumper. got them installed this last weekend and now have decided I want to run them both.

Have a waterproof relay and a circuit breaker installed with an add on fuse block. I have my switch ready to go in and run my wires through the firewall this next weekend. Will pass a wire from the fuse block through the firewall to power the switch so I can turn them on when I want and have put a diode in to keep from back feeding the stalk, have the reverse lights as a second trigger.

With two sets of 18 watt lights I thought a 7.5 amp fuse would be enough to feed the load-out for the relay, and a 3 amp for the switch itself? Will find an adjacent switch to tap off of and light the new switch inside.

Got my reverse lights finished this weekend. Old fat guys take a little longer to get things done, and I had to find a dry, non-snow covered place to run my wiring back to the rear and make up my connections. Got it finished yesterday in time to go see the grand daughter play in her basketball tournament.

Put a Aironboard switch in first weekend and got the wires through the firewall. Tied into reverse wire in engine bay with a diode fed to the trigger wire with switch.

Then I wired up a fuse holder and circuit breaker on a piece of plexiglass, used some rubber standoffs to mount to the top of my engine compartment fuse box lid. I intend to mount a buss bar connected to the negative battery terminal next weekend to it to for grounding, but for now I ran a #10 awg line from the rear connections of the lights back to the front and tied into the ground terminal on the engine bay wall across from the battery. Waterproof relay feeding back to rear.

Then I mounted my in bumper lights and the ones under, old eyes need lot of light.

When mounting at this location was there and clearance issues with metal sub bumper? Is there a certain spot you have to install it (ie if I moved it over an inch I would hit something) Have you done the recall repair on your rear bumper. I am debating about that location or placing them on the black plastic. With the black plastic there will be no clearance issues. Thanks and thats a great set-up

I have not done a recall repair, have not been notified of one so far...

I did not have any clearance issues, the lights I used (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00J5AAX5S/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1) were not deep enough to cause a problem, my lights would not hit the sub bumper if moved around. Getting the nuts and lock washers on the bolts CAN be challenging, I used a universal joint on a standard depth socket with a 6" extension, tapped the nut and washer together with blue painter's tape and made a second pass to "jam" the nut into the socket so it would not fall out to get it threaded on, once started I switched to a deep well as the bolt was too long for the standard to snug it up, using an allen wrench to hold the head on the bumper side. A helper would be really beneficial for this portion of the install, and I pine for the days I could go to the local service station and use their lift instead of having to lay on my back...
