OK, so I’m thru with my Audio project and now it’s time to install my heated seat kit. I have the placement down for the switches and the wiring is all pre-determined but, the biggest unknown to me is pulling back the factory cloth to install the heating elements. I’ve watched some YouTube videos and it doesn’t look too bad other than just cumbersome and time consuming. The one video I watched showed the guy using zip ties as a replacement for hog rings.

Has anyone attempted this? Tips, tricks or techniques?

I haven't done this exactly but I will say you should probably get a hog ring tool and some hog rings instead of zip ties. They may stretch, dry out, and crack over time

I’ll certainly take pics. It’s not too difficult if an install really. I put them in my 2016 Tacoma and because I used a factory switch, it was a lot of dash disassembly. But, these switches are going on the center console.

The ones I have are from Clazzio.com - link below. It’s a basic heated seat that is tried and true and replicated all over the web. They need 12v constant, 12v ignition and ground. I got the IBHS1 model.

Good point on hog rings vs zip ties. Off to Amazon...

I haven't done a Tundra but have done several other vehicles with zip ties. Hog rings are the best way to go but zip ties work just fine. Just leave a little slack in them, don't cinch them tight. The only tip I have and it's more preference than tip, I remove the seats from the vehicle. It's a PITA but it makes putting the elements in much easier when you have room to work. If you remove the seats make sure to disconnect your battery and let the system drain for a few minutes before disconnecting the airbag plug under the seat (if you have cushion air bags) just to be on the safe side.

Have them set up with a relay so that you don't accidentally leave it on after you park and drain your battery.

Will certainly pull the seats from the truck, that’s not an issue. I’m good with wiring them up as well. I’m just new to pulling the stock fabric back to install the heating elements.

Thanks for the tips... keep em coming!

when I put the leather covers on from leatherseats.com, which were really nice by the way and they are real covers not slip overs, the are a bit of work but well worth it imo,
I added seat heaters to both fronts, got them off ebay, prob my 4th set ive used from them and never had an issue they switches fit into the factory slots which was nice, as far as hog rings I would def. go that route do it right the first time and forget it

A good hook will make it easier to release the plastic channel from the metal framework of the seat. With the channel released you can lift the front and sides of the fabric.WK0310.jpg
