Seems to be a mixed bag of reviews when it comes to the CAI, May be one of those things that have to be experienced first hand.
If your lookin for performance you should look into D.A.P tuning.

Welcome Matt. Tundra's come with a cai and there's little if any evidence that changing it will enhance performance. The best performance upgrade is the supercharger. There's a whole thing about dual exhaust actually decreasing performance UNLESS you install long tube headers too.

I've been building fast Tundra's since 2003. I've dyno tested and track tested first and second gen Tundra's. There is absolutely zero gain with a cold air intake. It's too bad too. They have some of the best margins of all the aftermarket products out there.

Exhaust and BullyDog tune is the way to go on a mostly stock truck. If the$$ is there go with a supercharger.

Call for details. My number is on my site. www.dirtydeedsindustries.com

Thanks everyone! Don’t quit have the money for a supercharger. I might go ahead and start out with a bullydog system and go from there.

Toyota didn't leave much on the table with these engines. I'd do exhaust first. Won't really make it any faster, but it will feel like it.

SC Tundras are insane. I have been in a few, and it will put a smile on your face every day.

A little of this and a little of that.
Throw a @dirtydeeds exhaust on it and SC if the cash is there for you, that would be my vote.

I'm with everyone else on the CAI and exhaust, not worth the investment. SC and exhaust for performance or an exhaust for sound. Toyota did a great job squeezing everything out of the 5.7.

I went with a TRD rear sway bar and feel like my truck handles better in turns and any quick lane change type scenario. In my opinion it was a great investment.

I also did some things for looks, lighting, and organization.

TRD Pro grill, retrofitted headlights, @Baja Designs aux lights, @salex console tray and organizer, Undercover Swingcase, bed mat.

I put a Magnuson supercharger on my 2007 tundra one year ago. Although expensive, I haven’t looked back yet. So if you’re on the fence about it, let me push you over to the SC side . FYI purchase it during Black Friday week. Last year Magnuson had it for 10% off

The TRD rear sway bar is a nice upgrade. It tightens the truck up and limits body roll. Less than $300 and simple to install.

I would look at a 4.88 re-gear, especially if you plan or already have larger aftermarket wheels/tires. Probably 2nd cheapest effective performance upgrade.

Care to expand on the benefits and such of the BullyDog? I'm new to the forum and working on my truck that I've owned for a year. I am generally pretty pleased with the truck, but if that device can fine tune performance, and or pick of MPG, then that would be great.

The Bullydog is a great tuning device to hone in the way the truck feels and make it drive like your own.

Toyota tends to stay more conservative with their tune. That way their trucks can pass a 100hr full throttle session on a dyno under load. If you never plan to run that long under load there is no reason to dumb down the way the truck drives

I have special forum pricing for tundras.com members. Call for details.

I have a K&N 77 series on mine. I thought in the beginning it was better, but that was purely from the sound. I also just recently installed a Hypertech Interceptor and I've got codes all over the place, so I'm sending it back. In addition to that, I want remove the K&N and I want to install either the TRD Intake or the stock intake on my 5.7 with the Bullydog Tuner. My question is this. What is the main difference in the TRD Intake and the stock? Is the TRD intake the best possible option? I keep hearing stock intake and BullyDog is best match. Well, is a TRD intake considered "stocK"?

Matt, maybe some of these questions will help guide you better. I just want optimal performance all the way around and ive been searching for 7 years.
