Does anyone know how the traction control work on a 2012 tundra 5.7? Today with ac on and moderate acceleration to merge, the engine shut down for a second or bogged down then started running again. Not good when you're trying to merge

That doesn't sound good. I have a 12 myself and never had that problem.

    Has it thrown a CEL?

No but I've been reading that it could be the traction control system and it cuts power to engine when sensing loss of traction my foot wasn't all the way down but was accelerating hard

Normally you get a trac light flashing on the dash when this happens, but only during the event.

Traction control makes it feel like it ran out of gas for a second or two then it goes again

You should have heard beeping and seen TC lights flashing on the dash if it was the TC kicking in. Of course when something like that happens we rarely remember all the conditions, instead focusing on the main symptom. Something to keep an eye out for, though.

I also have that Traction Control Issue.
Mine does it even when I Turn OFF the Traction Control.
BTW. To Turn of the Traction Control you Press the VSC Button & hold it down for a FULL 3 Seconds. After 3 Full seconds you will see the Yellow OFF light near the Yellow VSC light. If you just press the VSC Button quickly, (ON My Instrument cluster, it shows the little yellow picture of a Truck doing a Posi-traction Burnout- I'm not sure what the difference is though).

Monday, I took her into the Dealer for the 500 Mile Post Supercharger Installation Check. (Check-up was No Charge / Included in the Price of the SC).
I was told, The Tech couldn't / or maybe wasn't allowed to do anything about the Traction Control "Governing the Throttle" or turn it off completely. There are reports out there that if you hold the VSC button down (While Truck Running) for 3 full seconds & then hold it down another full 3 seconds it turns it off completely. (I'm too Afraid to try it) I have also read the Bully Dog Tune has a way to turn off Traction Control but I had them do the "Toyota Re-flash of the ECU" when the SC was Installed so that isn't an option.

I'm also a bit Frustrated & not sure yet what I want to do.
On a Bright note. I was on a Freeway trip recently to Calif. and I had Ford Raptor blocking me. I moved over to pass at (75 MPH) when I punched it she broke the Tires loose, 15 or 20 miles later when Traffic backed up & the Raptor caught up he was pacing me and looking up and down at my Stone Stock looking Tundra like he just saw a UFO or something.
    Frigg'in Priceless !!!

It might be the PCM or power control module. Tommy, @Hattori told me about it when I'd had a similar issue. He said power is cut because the truck senses a potential loss of control. Not good when you're trying to pass someone and have oncoming traffic.

I Agree... the PCM must be part of the Traction Control System.
Could you please ask around and see if there is a way to Modify or over-ride it?

I had the Tech do a 0-Point Calibration to make sure the Yaw-Sensor wasn't causing a false reading/alert.
The bizarre part is the problem doesn't happen all of the time. Sometimes she breaks the tires loose sometimes not. The only constant is it doesn't seem to EVER let the Tires Break loose while cornering.

Just had Toyo MT tires installed , now when I step into it traction light come on and loses power to the engine. I'd like my supercharger back with full power.

Auburn Pro LS would be a good investment for you.

Just had my 07 lose power.

It was on an uphill on ramp with some loose gravel and sharp banked turn. Traction control lit up and was beeping. A crazy new electronic motor sound caught my attention and then I got power back. What was that motor sound?

Probably the ABS pump pulsing for Traction Control.
