2017 Toyota Tundra locking fuel cap

    I have a 2017 toyota tundra crewmax 4X4, flexfuel cause in missouri now i think all of them where....

    i have heard ppl mention issues with using locking fuel caps... nothing specific other than dont do it.

    are there issues? i dont use anything but regular gasoline.....

    and i cant find one..... i went to oriley and autozone and they have nothing listed that is compatible.

    pros and cons, specific brand and link recommendations?

    pros and cons of using a different locking outside gas door instead?

    Yes, joonbug, I read some of that one.... but it was old, and it seems the caps dont cover 2017. And I couldnt make out what the issue was using this off-brand caps.... can it somehow damage the engine if it is flexfuel?

    I didnt know the pros and cons of using these lower quality caps, as i think the oem replacement caps without the lock are like $50 or more.....

    yet for $15 i see these 'replacement' caps with the lock and key......

    and this is a flex fuel engine......

    and i have found nothing listed for the 2017 model here......

    Yes they work for '17. Same caps are off Amazon for ~12. they work fine.

    Is syphoning gas still a problem? I don't even think i've owned a car with a locking cap. :confused: haha

    Still though. Proper planning prevents piss poor performance. Better safe than sorry!

    Why not use a locking fuel door and leave the factory cap?

    I don’t think they siphon as often anymore. Now they use a battery pack drill and drill a hole in the tank.
