Thinking of installing a Fisher Snow Plow on my 2017 Tundra Crew Max Limited 5.7 V8 Auto just for personal use. Looking for recommendations / precautions / advice.

Make sure you get one that is easy on and off cause your not going to like driving around with it on all the time and you will not want one that is a hassle to connect every time you need it.

Pretty much all of them are a quick hitch type anymore. I prefer Snoway but Fisher is a good choice.

The Meyer home plow is worth a look also, it is a front mount trailer hitch instead of a specific vehicle side mount so it's easily transferable to a new truck.

I think after receiving a quote for over $4200.00 on a new Fisher installed from a Toyota / Fisher Plow Dealer I will rely on #1 son to continue to snow blow the white stuff away. Ha! Got mother a used Toro electric Snow Broom for the sidewalks and decks so I guess I'll forgo the plow for now. Thanks for the recommendations and advice though.:)

My wife buys used vehicles for her company to use. She bought a F150 and went to get a plow mounted on it to do plowing on the properties they own . Installers said you cannot mount a plow on a F150. Too lightweight and not heavy duty enough? So she traded it in on a Chevrolet 3500. And then they mounted a plow on it. So is the F150 unique to half tons being too lightweight ? Or are all half tons not supposed to support a plow mount? Or are there new plows that are so lightweight that half tons can handle the abuse from the plow and mount? Thanks from a noob with his first truck. Peace. D

Pretty sure it's something to do with the electric power steering on the 150's more than the suspension. Most major plow manufacturers make lightweight personal use plows for SUVs and half tons.

I miss plowing but the price of putting a plow on a newer truck has IMO become prohibitively expensive for personal use. Hell you can buy a decent used tractor for less.

Thought about this route as well (Maine as well). I was prohibited with the 6” lift and the cost, as well as the associated wear and tear out me in The ATV/Plow category

$6k and a 2017 Polaris 570 with 66” plow ought to do the trick!

I am in PA and also went with an ATV/ plow. I don't have a real lot to plow, but I already had the ATV, so it was a no brainer. Big thing is to stay ahead of it when it is accumulating fast. Too deep and the ATV is useless. This past year we had so much snow in a short time many pickups with plows were useless.

Staying ahead and having a snow plan is all part of it!! Haha

Have had 2 Honda Rancher 420 with plows in WA and SD. Those things paid for themselves in the winter time and did dual work all year hauling stuff like wood and trees...and they’re fun to ride.

Maine snow tend to be a little heavier and wet, but the plan stays the same.

Huh. That'd be a hell of a surprise to my buddy; he's had a Boss HTX on his 2017 F150 since it was new. Plowed out my driveway a few times when my 2000 SR5 with the RediPlow couldn't handle the heavy snow.

Snowdogg MD75 on my crewmax. Bought it used for a little over $2000. The setup weighs 400 pounds and the truck doesn’t seem to notice besides the 8 mpg.
