I need some help, not for my Tundra, for our other vehicle. I'm trying to determine which option is best for long term reliability. A one way Prestige remote start or the factory Toyota remote start.

    Range isn't really important.
Cost isn't important, as the dealer already mistakenly installed the Prestige. They are willing to swap for what I wanted, the Toyota, but the Prestige is already installed and working fine, still turns off when you open the door like the factory one.

I always felt factory is best.

What's your vote? I need to make a decision soon.

    Thanks in advance!

Unfortunately that's not an option. It's the Toyota or the Prestige....

If the Prestige has the same open door / shutoff silliness as the Toyota, I'd go with the Toyota.

Call the guru's at RSG Off Road...Hint...RSG...Remote Start Guys...Colorado company and they had a booth at ToyTec's customer appreciation day. Believe me...they go way beyond remote start setups too.

Yup it's the same in that respect. The range on the Prestige is 1500' while the Toyota is 100'.
That and an extra fob are the big difference.besides the obvious brand difference. I'm assuming the Toyota will be of better quality...

Although range may not be important. RSG has some top end remote starts that reach out up to a couple of miles. Comes in pretty handy when you are packing out a bull elk right about now. Cab is nice and comfy.

    See fine print
If they already installed the prestige it’s too late. They already hacked your wiring. Just stick with it. I would have gone w Fortin Evo one but too late!

That was my thought, thinking it would he more harm than good to have them reverse it and install something else. They said they didn't have to cut into any wires for the install they did. I don't know enough about it but I'm assuming the kit they installed mocks the Toyota one and/or they have a specific harness for it?

    Tough decision.

If the one in there acts the same as the Toyota, just keep it. Plus it has a reaaallllly long range. I wouldn't assume the Toyota one is better quality either.

    and I know the 1500' was a typo.:p

It may be an exaggeration from the company, but not a typo, haha.

The remote start is like $60, then you need another module or something which is like $70.

Not that more expensive is always better, but the Toyota is around $420.

That's the reason I didn't want the factory remote start. Very stupid.

I'd go with the Fortin EVO-ONE (probably with the RF kit and definitely with the T-harness). My second choice would be a Viper system
