Hello. This is my first post on the forum. I joined today but have been gathering information on the forum for weeks. I have a Build idea/plan but before I pull the trigger on this project I want to ask questions to everyone here and see where or what I am missing or doing wrong.

2018 Cement Grey Limited 4x4 Crewmax with TRD. (I am able to get the Limited for the same price as a SR5 due to negotiating skills). Additionally I have the dealership giving me a $1850 credit for the TRD wheels and tires. The dealership is going to color match the bumpers and grill surround to Cement Grey also so it will be a 2018 Limited Feaux (instead of pro).

I am planning on running the following setup:

Black Rhino Sprocket 18x9.5 with +6mm offset with Nitto Ridge Grapplers sized in LT285/70R18.

Opinions or knowledge on this potential wheel/tire setup?

Still unsure on the 3/1 level kit or to swap out brand new TRD shocks for the Bilstein 6112/5160 setup. Thoughts?

Will the new safety sense in the 2018 models render this entire plan useless or are there other issues I am unaware of due to the 2018 model?

Thank you for your time and help. I apologize in advace because I know the wheel/tire issue and level kit or lift kit issues are discussed often but I am not sure about the 2018 models and limited information on them so far.

Just ordered mine also. 18 Limited TRD. Having everything color matched as well and taking NFAB bars off my last truck and putting them on this one, tint, bed cover, dual exhaust, sway bar and most likely paint the wheels if I cant find ones I like to put in the deal.
I will be doing 5100s when my new tires wear out and level it t that point. I off road little and don't need the expensive set although I read that 6112s are nice.

From what I read here, you just cant change the grill with the safety stuff but the bulge and caps you can, so I am.

Mine will be here in a couple weeks although I drive through every other day to check. Sorry I couldn't help more. I'm a service advisor for a company that owns a Toyota dealership and I always pick their brains but they havn't done much with the 18s...yet

Do you or anyone else know if the level kit or Bilstein setup will create an issue with the sensors in the bumpers for blind spot monitoring and all the new safety upgrades that none of us really want but have to have when buying a newer model? I know the front logo safety sense is an issue but I'm okay with the new grill.

Glad to know someone else has a 2018 Tundra Feaux also.

Don't know if it will create an issue as no one has that setup yet come to our dealership. The techs have said it may but they are confident they can get it adjusted if it does. I'm ok with the new grill also and will be interesting when I get mine in and set up what happens. Most likely nothing, but we will see

I find that hard to believe. There is an $8k difference from the base SR5 to the base Limited. Or did you add all the options to the SR5 and saw it was almost as much as a Limited which already comes with all those options, then negotiated the price of the fully optioned SR5 for the Limited?

Just seems like an odd way to negotiate a car.

Isn't the $1750 incentive from the dealer in lieu of promotional financing rates? So you're buying a truck with no wheels and tires and putting your own on at time of purchase?

I would go with the 6112 bilsteins if I were you. I have the 3/1 spacers right now and am upgrading it to toytec coilovers soon. Do it right once. Check out toytec's website. They have some entry level shock/spring combos that give you a 3/1 lift at a really good price. I would consider them If i were you.

Regarding your wheel selection, be careful. THat is pretty aggressive offset for our trucks... You can def fit them but you may have to do some trimming and/or body mount chop. If you go with a friendlier offset, it is easier to fit tires. With a 3/1 lift, you should have at least 33's but with the right offset, you can easily fit 35's.

The 2018 manual says no lifting, painting front grill etc. or it will mess with Safety Sense. I'm sure the lawyers required that info. I'm also sure it's all engineered at the stock height etc., but I bet it will all still function with a lift. Who knows if it will work as effectively and prevent every accident in exactly the same way. There are too many variables to know, but it will be nice to hear some real world experiences.

That is a nice credit for tires and wheels. I have never had much luck with dealers giving me credit for tires. I have always ended up trading at tire shop or putting on another truck. I had to fight with a dealer to get credit for step rails that I did not want. They must have had a used one they are going to put them on. This is what dealer was going to do with my steps. I did not want tires that came on OR and did not want 20" wheels but 20s with BFGs won out. I have 6112s set at 1.9" and perfectly level. Thought about top setting. Kind of wish I had gone with adjustable Toytecs at 2.5 and a 1" block or shackles. At least with the adjustable I could try 2.5 and see what it looks like. Other than that I am perfectly happy with 6112s. They ride nice. I am going to run stock on rear for a while. Coming from a Tacoma I am more than happy with the way the Tundra rides on pavement. I know there is no way it is going to handle ranch roads like my Baja did. I could out run the mules in the Tacoma.

So does this mean no more over priced lifted trucks at dealers?

doubtful....dealerships don't care. I'm pretty sure we have already seen at least 1 lifted 2018 at the dealership posted on this forum.

Personally speaking I prefer the 20" tires, not the 18"'s. Just from experience, it seems at least where I reside that 20's are the new standard and as such are less expensive. Just my 2 cents. My CM came with 275/55/20 and once the tires are used up, I'm getting some all blacked out rims and going to 285/65/20 for the tires. Mine's also not lifted. Welcome to the forum.

Ranch roads I run have some large rocks and rocky creek crossings. 18 put more rubber between the rocks and the rims. I also think that more rubber equals better ride. I would like to see weight comparison between 18s and 20s with same diameter tires. I think aluminum might be lighter than rubber. I wonder how that NM dealer tacked on for the black letters on tailgate.

Stig- I understand the confusion. So here is how the deal (which is still ongoing) has gone.

I did want the SR5 CM 4x4. In cement, you have to get the TRD package. However, I told the dealer I didn't want the TRD package because I had my own wheels and tires I wanted as well as doing my own Bilstein setup. So why buy a TRD to only take it all off? So I said I'll get the truck if you let me put my rims and tires on it. So they came up with the credit idea, and did say they would put the TRDs on a used Tundra as an upgrade for someone else. I also said to please pull the color matched parts in cement from a platinum and put it on my SR5. They agreed to that also. Then I walked off, went to another dealer, showed them the paperwork from the other dealer and said do this but for cheaper. $42500 was the number. So the new dealer said I'll do that but in a cement Limited. So that's where the deal stands now. But now I will wait until December for end of the year toyotathon or on Dec 30th and sit there with my money and go to whatever dealer gives me the best overall deal. Does this make sense?

For everyone else, thank you for the welcome and information on everything. Once everything is done I will post pics and any other info anyone requests.

The 2018 Platinum doesn't come in Cement. Good luck with your purchase.

For the wheel, what about the Method MR309 (Grid) in titanium? They have more options when it comes to the offset and I like the color to go with the cement truck. I know Method is a solid company. Like I said, I'm open to everyone's knowledge here and open to all suggestions. Thanks for the cautionary advice!

You sir likely live in the one area where that’s the case. Where I live there’s still quite a disparity in price between 18’s and 20’s.

Their +18 offset will fit a lot better. A lot of people run that setup here. I would recommend that over your first choice. 295/70/18 is what a lot of people here run but both flaps In front and rear of the front wheels have to be removed and the front liner has to be moved forward to fit. That’s pretty typical to fit some meat on these trucks. You might have to do a body mount chop.

Thank you for the luck Tundra9831. I am going off what the dealer said. They will get the color matched pieces I want to include the bumper ends with the spots for the monitors as well as the grill surround etc so it is all grey like a 2017 Pro. Hence the term posted above...Faux.

I apologize sincerely for causing you to have to use your daily key stoke allotments due to my negligence. But...somehow those color matched pieces are coming from their parts department.

I got clarification from the dealership. Pic of his text is attached.

Thank you for this info. The reason I am going towards the 285/70R18 is due to the small weight savings of approximately 10lbs per tire (or so Nitto says) between the 295 and 285. That equates to 40 total pounds and "could" help with MPG (like Tundra owners with 33+ tires are that concerned) and gearing and acceleration. I read in another post that Yokohama makes an even lighter tire in that same size also.

I also just got off the phone with toytec and they were extremely helpful discussing the Eibach setup mentioned above. So that setup and the Bilstein are the two final contenders. Now someone will drop the Old Man Emu suggestion and fry my newb brain more.

"platinum grill same as a pro"...not trying to be rude here, and on the web it can be easy to come across this way, but something still seems wrong with your dealer or the "deal" you are getting.

In his text I believe he is referencing the grille surround from a 2018 Platinum and how it looks. Somehow that platinum grille is different than the SR5 I'm guessing or they can get a cement color one somehow. I have no clue what he means honestly there. But no matter what model grille surround and bumper ends are put on my truck they will be Cement Grey and the safety sense will still be operational in the toyota logo.

Thanks for the heads up though. I will ensure I look into this and monitor it.

Tundra9831 informed me the 2018 Platinum is not available in Cement. If that is the case, then it is possible they will just color match all the parts.

I will ensure it all gets done somehow. Otherwise I just walk. They don't have my money yet and won't get it until this forum has helped me out with these ongoing conversations with valuable information.

    Thank you.

With the 3" toytec lift mentioned above and the issue with the black rhino wheel offset of only +6mm what about the following setup:

Method Grid (titanium). 18x9 with an 18 offset.

    Tire possibilities:
    Nitto Ridge Grappler 285/70R18
    Nitto Terra Grappler 285/75R18

I'm happy with either tire and don't want to open that conversation here at all. I just like everyone's opinions on these setups due to something I don't know about. I have zero issues removing or trimming on a new vehicle.
