I for one appreciate the generosity of the discounts for active and prior service military. I think having a thread of active discounts is ideal to let those know.

Off Road Warehouse offers discounts on select items.

    Leitner Designs offers 10%

    Icon offers 10%

I read that you have to sign up and send them a copy of your DD214. Way too much personal info for my liking :(. I like lowes too ;)

I'll see if they would accept that. On the site it said you needed a veteran discount card :notsure:
Good to know, thanks for the heads up

For Lowes you go online and pair your My Lowes card to it and never have to show your ID. I would just order a new card, when I tried doing it to my existing one it worked in store about 50% of the time. But now it is automatically taken off when I do the online orders and when I scan it in store even the self checkout thanks me for my service. Can't beat the 10%!!

My Lowes is now requiring that you have a My Lower card, before giving a discount. Home Depot all you have to do is flash your I.D.

I show my NC drivers license, it has Veteran listed on it and accepted anywhere offering a discount to Vets.

A Veteran can sign up through the VA for a ID card after their honerable discharge. One of my co-workers did this and uses it all over town. She gets a minimum of 10% off. I have never done this, but it is an option.

I never have used my VA benifits outside of buying a home 16 years ago. Trying to use them right now has been a failure and has probably cost me two homes to purchase.

Good point Chris! I had a VA ID and it expired so I opted for the permanent Vet status on my DL. I don't use the VA for regular check ups, I have a closer local a Doc. The VA in Charlotte is pretty nice and high tech, they serve over 20,000 vets a year..amazing.

Sorry to hear of your issue with VA home mortgage. I have never had an issue with mine. The one thing you cannot do with a VA home loan is allow a buyer to assume it. If you do you loose the benefit forever.
Not at all implying you did, I was told this years ago when we bought our first home. I hope it works out for you in the future.

Used my NC DL last week at Lowe's with Veteran on the DL, no issue and I don't have a my Lowe's card.

The benifit is there, just most sellers in this area will not take a VA now due to how long it takes, some of the rules and conditions.

I would never let someone else assume my VA benifits. That is about as bad as someone else assuming my marital benifit. Lol

All I had to do was show them I was a retiree and they linked it to my already established account, now when I'm at the register all they need is my phone number. They've had to much fraud in the past, people posing as military either active or retired - scumbags try to ruin everything.

In Ohio go to the DMV with your DD214 and they will stamp your DL for proof of Military. Also South West Airlines offers free drinks to all vets on flights. That’s the reason I fly SWA. Not for the free drinks, but because they care and respect our vets. past, present and future.

When I signed up at Lowe’s. I did everything online including my military information. Then you take your DD 214 along with your My Lowe’s card and the store manager look at it and approve

I've got a VA ID I use most of the time if people ask. TN is now hopping on the veteran stamped license.

I keep waiting for more businesses to install the purple heart parking (not like most people around here are nice enough to let those of us who've been awarded that use the parking anyhow)

I signed up online with Lowe's for the discount, but I only have to flash my DL to make a purchase and they never have a problem. I added the Veteran label to my CA license and it has been worth the effort IMO.

I also appreciate Chipotle's BOGO for Veterans and here in the SF South Bay Classic Car Wash gives a free Supreme wash to Veterans. Again, flash the DL and never a problem.

Applebee's also gives a free meal to Veterans but I don't go. I was grateful for the offer when it first came out but recently I have seen that the seat in the restaurant is needed by somebody that could use the meal more than I do.

I will dig around and see if I can find a list when it gets closer to the 10th.

I’ve read Home Depot only accepts retirement id or your va card has to say “service connected” unless it’s veterans or Memorial Day. The Home Depot here said they no longer offer it everyday. Also, Home Depot doesn’t accept it on online purchases. Thinking of getting rid of our depot card and going to Lowe’s. Not being stingy but I appreciate companies that appreciates service members and veterans

Lowes changed their policy 4th of July this year, they no longer need military I'd, you have to register a phone # with them, can do it online.
