My new truck was lifted when I got it and changed the stock 32s to 35s. I am not really mechanically inclined and haven't lifted any of my vehicles before. I'm thinking that the computer hasn't been recalibrated for the bigger tires, and I'm afraid my speedometer and MPG readings are both off. Am I right to assume the Toyota dealer would be the place to go to have it recalibrated?

You need a hypertech speedo. I’m sure dealer can do it but will charge you up the ying yang. Might be cheaper going to a truck shop or try tackling yourself. Many here have done it and I’m sure they can walk you through it.

if you want to verify download a gps app for your phone and compare. might want to try that at around 60 mph. Your speedo will be off about 7-9%. Its not off a set mph amount. If your dealer lifted your truck then they SHOULD be able to install the calibrater. I would try and play the well you lifted it and its off so i could get a ticket angle to see if they will give you a decent price. Mine did. Also have them leave the connector attached to the calibrator and zip tie it out of the way that way if you need to adjust it a bit you don't need to tear your dash apart again to get to it.

I thought about getting recalibrated for 35s but it wasn't that big a difference.Screenshot_2017-10-11-20-24-05.jpg Screenshot_2017-10-11-20-24-24.jpg

The truck was lifted with bigger tires already when I bought it. Just feels like it may be off to me. I'll try the GPS app. I also tried that website and being off by 5 mph is a pretty significant difference to me.

Let me know what they end up doing. I may get mine adjusted.

Also, if that's off I'm also getting better MPG than the truck says. And my odometer will read lower than what I actually travel...guess that would be good for reselling haha

i bought mine lifted. One local dealer had calibrated my 4 runner before i bought it(also lifted) this dealer didn't calibrate the truck. You will find that people are split 50/50 on doing the calibrater...here is how i see it. $40,000 plus for the truck and the calibrater costs like 250. Lets say you only did it to fix the readout on the speedo and you avoid a ticket...seems worth it to me for the peace of mind. specially since my wife drives mine a lot at least i know she knows how fast she is going too.
