Looking for input from TRD supercharger owners. I'm curious whether you're seeing a drastic drop in mpg like I am. I have had the supercharger on for a couple of full gas tanks now and I'm seeing a huge drop (around 10-12mpg highway and less city). I don't often engage boost and try to keep the rpm low at cruising but still getting a horrible mileage. Is this normal and the cost we pay for having a supercharged truck? It would be helpful if you can post your average mpg.

How are you calculating the MPG? I never saw much of a decrease (if I kept my foot out of it) as I did increase.

@Sean266, thanks for the reply man! You see that's what I thought. Common sense says if you're easy on the pedal and keep the RPMs low, it's burning fuel more efficiently with the force induction of air and therefore should give you even better mileage in theory. I've seen a considerable drop however. Not sure if there is any other way of calculating the mpg. I put 25 gallons of 93 octane gas and I got approximately 300 (mostly) highway miles out of it. The next tank was another 25 gallons with a mixed city and highway driving and that lasted about 270 miles. Thats only 12mpg and 10.8mpg. Any idea what could be causing the drop?

    Same miles (city vs highway)?
    Same or different fuel station?
Did they switch to winter fuel?

Yup very similar miles as I use the truck for commute to work and back. Some weekend driving to restaurants, shops, etc. And I always use Shell and both times it was the same station. Regardless, I'm seeing almost a 8-10 mpg drop from before I had the sc put on which boggles my mind.

Try a different station. So 8-10mpg drop? Let’s say you were at 14mpg...now you’re at 4-6mpg?

I haven't had the truck for that long but a few tanks of gas I used up commuting to work prior to installing the sc was giving me 18-20mpg. Like I said, I have a very relaxed driving style - unless I need to put punks in their places at the red light ;)

I think it’s still adjusting. I would give it some good drive time and then report back.

Hopefully. I figured I'll put another 1500 miles on it and have Toyota look at it if its still that low. Thanks again for the input. By the way, I noticed there was a complete TRD supercharger set available on eBay if you ever wanted to go back to having one :boink:

I just got my Supercharger Installed.
The Tech said to give the ECU a chance to learn before doing much.

I will do some MPG tests in a week or so and see what she is getting.
I was only getting about 14 MPG Before the SC.
