So I just had my 60k maintenance done. Guy that did it for me said that my trans fluid was a little dirty and recommended a flush and filter.
The trans shop I called said not to drop the pan until 100k and to just drain and replace the fluid.
And another shop said to just drain and replace the fluid but also do the filter, just not the proper flush.

    Which is correct?
All the scheduled maintenance list I got from toyota says is to check and address the trans fluid if necessary.

    Thanks.

    No problemo.

The 30k was fluid check, solenoid operational check, and it was documented that it was done. This was done for free.

60k was a pan drop service and fill. Checked solenoid operation. Documented it was done. 199.00

I was going to do the 90k service as another drain and fill due to all the flogging I gave it towing, but sold it.

Two separate dealerships told me not to worry about it until 120k, and I had a tough time setting it up with them, even though the book says otherwise. I asked to get that in writing if my trans took a dump at 99999 miles. The next words that came out of their mouth was "what day are you available to have this done?"

Funny, the Lexus dealership told me the exact opposite and said to get the service done. Guess where I have been getting all my trans services and filters through? Yep, Lexus. They are cheaper and a no bullshit organization.

There had been a few people on other Tundra sites (gasp. Other tundra sites:eek:) that had issues with warranty because the 30 or 60k mile check wasn't done. This is what made me do it. If I remember correctly, it was a total of three different members that had this issue when I stopped counting.

Right. I called a local Toyota dealership and got one answer, then called another and got a different answer.
    Wtf.
Then called a local shop that's supposed to be pretty reputable and got a third answer lol.

I'm just gonna do the fluid swap and new filter/o ring since I bought it used, I'm not sure what the previous owner towed or hauled, etc..

You think it matters if I go OEM filter or not? It'll take the dealer a few days to get it in but I'm trying to get it done this weekend..

Toyota has great filters. That is what I have always ran and currently do on my other two Toyota brand vehicles.
